Hi Jane. I know what you mean - I make all sorts of strange faces when I play. It's obvious she loves being on stage and likes to ham it up. I wouldn't want her to lose that.

Have you seen this video of her first performance? She was the same back then.

Maybe Taimane doesn't know she looks like she's smirking. I agree, and wish she'd tone down the "performance" part, but when Tommy Emmanuel was criticized for the same thing he said he's a 'showman' first and a musician 2nd. Oh well. Giving Taimane the benefit of the doubt...maybe she doesn't realize she looks so show-offy.

I plan on doing it weekly. There are so many good performances from both amateurs and pros being uploaded every week that it's hard to resist.

I can't figure out how Taimane manages to play those lines with just her thumb. I agree with you about her performance. I particularly dislike the way she looks at the audience with a smirk on her face.

This is a great feature, are you going to do it weekly? Hope so. I loved the last one, it would be a fun song for those who have uke clubs. It was interesting to watch Taimane pick only with her thumb while the rest of her fingers were planted on the uke body. I think she's got a lot of potential but I wish she'd tone down the cheesy performing schtick, waving her uke around so much.
