Paul: You're welcome.

Min: Thanks for the recommendations. I've just been checking out the Lost Sound Tapes website. Obviously, I headed straight for the acts with a uke in their picture. There's definitely a future Monday Exposure in Blanket Truth.

Hobbit: I can forgive it in uke clubs. If they're amateurs playing for their own amusement, it's fair enough. But, yeah, if there are people listening, mix it up a bit.

"There’s no more irritating sight to me than a line of acoustic guitar players strumming out exactly the same chords in exactly the same way."

Precisely what drives me to distraction about most uke clubs and a certain selection of uke acts.

If you have two ukes going at least play different inversions, y'know? At least some of the time.

Speaking of independent music, I'd like to mention a great label and a great band we should all support- Lost Sound Tapes and Union Whale.

Lost Sound Tapes is at www.lostsoundtapes.com and the guy who runs it is super nice. He puts out a lot of music on cassette tapes, and plays ukulele in his band, Blanket truth.

Union Whale is at http://www.myspace.com/unionwhale . I first heard them through a Lost Sound Tapes ukulele compilation, and if you like their music, ask them nicely and they'll send you every song they've ever recorded for free.

Also, we should all support Bert Jansch and John Renbourn while we're at it.

awesome!
I was so excited when i originally found this site, and you started posting music i already was into. This batch of artists is pure gold. Especially Mary Epworth, Peggy Sue, and the Smoke Fairies. The hellbusters didn't spark my interest quite like the other three. Thank you for broadening my musical horizon with bands that don't suck.
