RE Lap Steel uke:

Nope, never seen something like it, though I'll let you in on a secret -- if you set up a standard junker uke (even with nylon strings) with a high nut, you can play it Hawaiian guitar fashion and it sounds tres cool because of the super mellow nylon sound.

Ron Hale: I'm the bass player for the Corner Laughers. Thanks for the kind words (at least that's how I am going to interpret it).

Regarding Woodshed's comment about the debut album not having much uke; there's actually a lot of uke, it just doesn't always sound like what you'd expect, due to Karla's use of amps and effects and modern technology and whatnot.

We have a new album coming out later this year that will have some more traditional ukulele playing (as evidenced by the video linked above) and also some crazy stuff that you would never guess was ukulele, but is. See our Myspace for a preview:

Jake: Have you ever seen a specific lap-steel ukulele like that before?

ron: They've been around a while, but their debut album didn't have much (or any) uke on it.

My ignorance knows no boundaries. Where have the Corner Laughers been hiding? Or have they always been out there, just waiting (with how many others?) to be discovered? Big time...
