Great list! But none in Glasgow… :(

  3. Nornb March 11th, 2010 8:26 am

Any Aberdeen City or Shire Ukulele player/puddlers interested in meeting up sometime?

  4. Pete Shurmer March 11th, 2010 8:34 am

Am I the only one in North Wales who plays the uke?

  5. Woodshed March 11th, 2010 7:23 pm

    byjimini: Have a great time.

David: I’m sure GUGUG would join in. Good luck with it.

Nornb: Good luck with your quest.

Pete: I’m sure there must be others. Hope you find them.

  12. Mark March 24th, 2010 6:53 pm

Hey David, I’m a uke player in Glasgow (West End). We could start a band?!

  13. Lizzie March 26th, 2010 11:35 am

Brilliant work! Many thanks to Claudine for all the hard work.

UkesForFun has got a proper website for the club now (well, getting there).

To make it easy for the forgetful, ie. me, either of these urls will get there: and

There are plenty of ukes – from the staggeringly accomplished to people who wander in having never played any instrument before and get handed a spare uke.

We are open-minded about other instruments too. Lately we have had up to three bass-guitar players join us (two acoustic and one electric) with the occasional violinist/fiddler or mandolin player, and the lovely Stella has promised to bring her sax along soon too!

My only gripe is that my dog sings better than me – she is supposed to be operating the Waggometer but she gets a bit carried away sometimes.

Many thanks again for the wonderful website and all the helpful stuff you send out,

  14. Simon April 23rd, 2010 2:58 pm

FC Ukulele are an Edinburgh based ukulele band. Billed as ‘Scotland’s foremost ukulele band’ (Edinburgh Evening News) we have been gigging around Edinburgh, Fife and Glasgow for around 5 years.

This year during the Edin Festival we headlined the Caledonian Folk and Blues Festival in The Guildford Arms, and we also appeared in the Spiegeltent at Fringe by the Sea in North Berwick. Other highlights include playing at the The Byre Theatre St Andrews during the Open.

We’d love to see any fellow uke fans at one of our gigs!

Hi, im a very new uke player living in the Kings Lynn area looking for a fairly relaxed friendly group to learn with.
    Anyone any suggestions?

  30. Amy January 21st, 2011 8:46 am

    Hey Munchkin5,

I’m the co-founder of the Norwich Ukulele Society based in, well, yeah Norwich of course. We meet fortnightly Sundays at The York Tavern (Off Unthank in the golden triangle), our next meet is Sunday 30th January.

There is a lesson run from 4-5pm with Gemma (the leader of the group) which costs £5. Or the club meet starts at 5-7.30pm and this is completely free. Please check facebook to find our group and/or email Gemma to get the full songbook.

We are a fun group playing silly songs, with a range of skills. We play a lot of local events and have really built up a reputation so there will be opportunities to perform if you want.

    Hope to meet you soon.

    Amy xx
