Lanikai’s LU-21 series of ukuleles is one of their most popular, particularly with beginners. They’re very affordable and one step up in quality from the lowest price ukuleles. They also go one step further than the cheapest uke makers by having concert, tenor, baritone, pineapple and electric ukuleles in the range.

Don’t be put off by the rather daft username, Ukulele Friend is a great place to go for top-end ukuleles (both new and vintage). He has some great examples of ukuleles from top Hawaiian luthiers and rare examples of vintage ukuleles.

With the influence of Jake Shimabukuro and Iz, many more people are getting a tenor ukulele as their first ukulele. If that’s your situation, the Kala KA-T is a great place to start for anyone who wants a good quality first ukulele that won’t give them any problems, sounds good and will survive for a [...]
Makani are a father and son pairing from Japan. They are notable for their incredibly decorative inlays and soundhole carving. The quality of their ukuleles was recognised by the Ukulele Guild of Hawaii in 2008 where they won three of the five awards including best in show and best inlay. As you might guess, these [...]
The Pa’ina is Fender’s most expensive ukulele. For your money you get a solid mahogany ukulele complete with pick-up.

The Southern Ukulele Store only began in earnest in mid-2009 but have quickly established themselves as the best place in the UK to buy a ukulele. I’ve bought my last two ukuleles from them and have been very happy with the service they provide. They’re also very passionate and knowledgeable about ukes and are happy [...]
Slightly different from the other sellers I’ve listed here as Jake deals only with second hand ukuleles. Jake is an incredibly talented restorer of instruments (not just ukuleles) and often sells ukuleles he has restored on eBay. He has the best listings I’ve ever seen on eBay with full details of the instrument, photos from [...]
