Compared to other ukes it has a warm sound while still being able to be loud. It sounds really “natural” to me if that makes sense. I often play gigs with a friend on guitar, and my koalana cuts through nicely. I get a lot of compliments on it’s tone.

The only complaints I have about it concern the turning pegs, which aren’t geared. They tend to get loose and I have to carry around a mini screwdriver with me to tighten them occasionally. It used to annoy the heck out of me but I’m used to it by now.

Despite 5 years of constant use, there are only a couple dings which you can only see if you’re closely examining it, and a crack on the bottom where the neck meets the body that hasn’t affected the sound. This uke is definitely sturdy.

If you can get your hands on one I would totally recommend it – it has a unique look/sound and to me seems to sound better with age.
