It's used; I am not sure how old it is, but the finish is worn around the edges as well. I had to fix the tuning pegs because the screws had dulled and rusted, and there are a few blue paint drips on it. But that's kind of what I like about it. It has character and a history. And now that I have repaired it with my own hands, it is my friend. I like the sound. And compared to the bigger instruments I am used to playing, it's like holding a kitten as opposed to holding a full-grown dog. Kinda delicate and cute. I wasn't able to tune it at all, the screws were too loose. I used to tighten them a few times a day which is crazy. Also there were scratches on it. I considered it to be just for showing as it was extremely cute, not for playing but maybe I was just unlucky and got a bad one. I did buy SU 100 guy once. I'm so glad I didn't wind up spending a ton (close to $200!) of money for a so called "quality" ukulele because for right now I am quite satisfied and can't wait to take it to my shows its going to fit in perfectly with the family and sound and defiantly is going round out and thicken my overall sound what with rock(hard-soft-ballad), blues, acoustic, jam, peace-soul, vaudeville, etc. music well its going to be a blast!!! Other than the finish wearing off a bit around the edges, I love it! It has been fun to learn on, and every day at work I can't wait to get home and play around with it. It makes me smile.....I had to tune it OFTEN at first, but after a week now, the strings must be stretched enough, because it is starting to finally hold tuning. The sound is lovely when I actually get the chords fretted right.
