FREE bluegrass ukulele TABs available here
July 17th, 2008 Posted by Ken Middleton. 1 Comment
All of my bluegrass ukulele arrangements are now available for FREE download here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=a…27c76b3f1e1060
All the pieces are arranged in TAB and conventional notation (take your choice).
The majority are written to be played on (high G) soprano, concert or tenor ukes. There are a few arranged for baritone as well.
If you use the arrangements, please let me know how you have got on. I welcome any positive suggestions too.
These include some of the most famous bluegrass guitar and banjo pieces. They include my latest piece, “Turkey in the Straw”.
Have fun

Life on Mars
July 10th, 2008 Posted by bloopingarfe. 4 Comments
I’ve been searching around for Uke-playable Bowie, so in frustration I arranged one for myself. My original inspiration was the UOGB version, but this solo works well too. I’ve played it mostly with down strokes and playing around with the rhythm. Hope you enjoy.

Soldier’s Joy

Here is my latest bluegrass ukulele arrangement. I’m really pleased with it.
Who will be the first to record it on YouTube? No prize, I’m afraid, but see if you can beat me to it.

The Rip - Portishead
June 24th, 2008 Posted by J-Hob. No Comments
Portishead - The Rip (tab)
Quite possible my favourite track from the fantastic new Portishead album and one that sounds great on a uke tuned with low G. I love it’s simplicity and the sorrowful mood that it generates. The video is almost as fantastic as the song, we need more old skool animation, sod the fancy pants cgi stuff.
This is a really great song to play if you’re new to finger picking as the pattern is simple and is the same through the whole song. The eight bar melody is repeated throughout, the first four bars are in the key of C and the second four in G.
When the synth comes in and it gets a little more intense you could try lightly strumming the chords using your thumb to strum down once and then your pointer finger to strum up, down, up, repeat 4 times for each bar.

Closer To The Heart Intro - Rush
June 3rd, 2008 Posted by zoso658. No Comments
Closer To The Heart Intro Hi all. Recent convert from 15 years of guitar to the lovely world of the ukulele thanks to seeing Joe Brown live at The Stables in Milton Keynes UK (what a show , you should all try and see him if you can, brilliant performer). Anyway..was bored after work and listening to Closer to the Heart by Rush and thought, this could work on the ukulele, so here is a first go, which if nothing else shows that i have never tried to make my own tab before! I did it in WordPad which I think all PCs should have (unless mine is too ancient!) Check amazon.co.uk or .com for Rush albums and DVDs, plenty out there. Comments/insults are all welcome from all ![]()

Dont Stop Me Now - Queen
May 28th, 2008 Posted by zymeck. 2 Comments
If you live in the UK you may have come across a series of adverts for Cadburys Chocolate. The first advert featured a gorillia playing the drums to a Phil Collins track, and the latest one is equally unrelated to choccy…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvZnjOwFh2U
WTF!! I love this advert, it makes me squeal with joy like a 6 year old boy ![]()
I also love ‘Dont Stop Me Now’ It makes me want to jump up and down like a 6 year old - its just SO FUCKING EXCITING
When i started to look for a ‘uke friendly’ version of this track, i was very surprised to discover that Al hadn’t already done one, so here goes…
The tendancy (for me, anyway) is to play this as fast as possible, but im afriad you’ll have to try and slow it down a bit, cos theres some quick chord changes for the ‘dont stop me now’ bit.
Even if you havent got a copy of Queens Greatest Hits, the chances are that your Dad does. (its the law!!) But if not, get it here

Heart of Life - John Mayer
May 22nd, 2008 Posted by Nelson. 4 Comments
An old friend of mine turned me on to John Mayer after taking me to a concert.
This here be a good song…yar
Should be easy enough to play…Oh, and I changed one of the chords because it had a changed root note on guitar so I just changed it to a C# which essentially has the same notes in the chord.
Buy the album here.

Anyone else but you - Moldy Peaches/Michael Cera & Ellen Page
May 14th, 2008 Posted by zymeck. 3 Comments
Another one off the juno soundtrack thats been sitting on my HD for months. I would have posted it ages ago, but a baby came along and stole all my spare time
We could argue as to whether this is played with a ‘G’ & ‘C’, or whether its a ‘G’ & ‘Cmaj7′. Or whether its both! (some of the interweb seem to think thats its ‘C’, with a ‘Cmaj7′ at the end of each verse)
Ive decided that IM playing it with a ‘G’ & a ‘Cmaj7′, because i think it sounds nicest :p
It also makes it very easy to play, which is very good for beginners. (Like my friend Rob, who STILL hasnt picked his new Uke up!!) All you have to do lift your index finger and your ring finger (as long as you’re married) to switch between chords! RESULT!
Anyone else but you - Moldy Peaches/Michael Cera & Ellen
The Lyrics are from the film version, rather than the Moldy Peaches version, but you can find them without much difficultly on the www
Listen to the album version here
Buy it here
enjoy
