Lyrics

I could be loud man, I could be silent
I could be young man or I could be old
I could be a gentleman, or I could be violent
I could turn hot man or I could be cold
I could be just like the calm before the storm boy
Waitin’ for all hell yeah to break loose
I could be innocent or I could be guilty
Doesn’t mean that I don’t believe in the noose
So I’m singing …

(La bom bom bom bom, bom bom bom bom, bom bom bom bom bom ect)

I could be rich like a wandering gypsy
I could be poor like a fat wallet lost
I could be the first man or I could come last
It’s not who breaks the ribbon boy it’s how you get across
I could be red, blue, black or white sunset
As dark as a day boy or bright as a night
I could be the sun boy or I could be the moon
I made it from the stars so I’m shining so bright
So I’m singing…

I could be asleep boy, or I could be awake
I could be alive man or be the walking dead
I could be ignorant or I could be informed
I could lead my life man or I could be lead
I could be anything I put my mind to boy
All I gotta do is give myself a half-a chance
I could bring love back into my life
And share it with the world if I got some balance

Strum pattern is pretty easy to get from listening to the song – I believe that it’s 6 strums for all but the last of both the verse and chorus chords – the last chords get 7 strums. Also, on the last strum of the Aadd9 chord [2102] during the verse, I think it sounds right to lift up your finger on the ‘A’ string to briefly make an A chord [2100] before changing to the final B chord.

These are adapted from some guitar chords I found on Chordie. They didn’t sound exactly right so I played around with them a little bit.

Here’s my version: Seaside Chords

For the last verse, they do some finger picking along with the strumming. I emulate it by fretting the chords and then picking this pattern: (I’m referring to the strings as G, C, E, and A, and strums as D and U)

After the chorus, before the verse: C – A – - – E – A – E – A – E -

During the end verse: C – A – - – U – D – U – D -

Hopefully that makes sense.

Also, you can hear him moving around on the A-string at the end of some of the progressions, sometimes moving up to Cadd9, and other times going up to the 7th fret. I think there may even be an Am7 in there. If you guys can clear it up I’ll change the chords. Otherwise, I think they’re right… I’m never sure on this stuff. Just holler if something’s wrong.
