Before I learned how to read tabs, I would track finger movements and then play from memory. This is how I learned to play the Harry Potter theme on my ukulele. Click on this link to watch a video of me playing it: HP Theme
Since then, I’ve learned how to do tabs and stuff so I wanted to share this tab I made with anyone who wants it for the Harry Potter theme. I’m quite new at this, so sorry if it is confusing.
I hope that makes some sense. Try to imagine them all as quavers…except the last one, which is a crochet. Then that repeats for a fair while in the song.
The standout track for me from this Saturday’s UkeTube was Vertigo Smyth’s Comfort Me. I’m not the savviest at this chord charting business but Comfort Me seemed pretty simple. Hopefully I didn’t completely botch it. Oh, and any help on the lyrics would be appreciated, I basically made these up… UPDATE 7/11: Thanks all, they’re right now.
As the title say, you can find a bunch of Tabs for the uke inspired by YouTube performers (as Wininboy, Ukulelezaza, WS64, and other), records of artist like Roy Smeck and personal arrangement on this French Website !
All these Tabs are retranscribed by Arnaud D. and Dav.
The old indie walk-on-the-beach becomes a little more interesting when you listen out for the subtleties. I’ve not transcribed the chords verbatim, but used the hints of sus4s that were there, and a particularly lovely Fadd9. Still a nice easy version. And there’s a surprise at the end I’d entirely forgotten!
PS. Tab is in C, recording is in B, so tune down a semitone if you’re doing kara-uke.
PPS. Realised after sharing this with the delightful SCUPA that the G6 in the tab is nothing of the sort – it’s a B♭6, in fact, if such things matter to you. Don’t ask me how I mistook the two. It’s a reet puzzler, since I don’t have a tin ear.
This is a cover of Lakes of Canada by The Innocence Mission. Video here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x23g4s_502-sufjan-stevens-musicnow-the-lak_creation
I learned it a while ago on the banjo but ukulele being my true love, I thought I’d it figure out and share.
Go watch the video to see strumming pattern. It’s pretty easy once you get the rhythm down( pick 3, down, up, up, down, up, pick 3, down, pick 2, down is a simple way to tag along). You could just strum along, as well. Lots of hammer-on’s but just do them where you feel they need to be. It’s a fun song to play.
Scour the internetz for lyrics. I don’t want to post them here. Beautiful song by the way.
Capo second fret. Basic chords are (relative to capo) C (0003), G (0232), D (2225-bar index on 2, pinky on the 5), Am (5450).
Transition to the chorus is C, G, D…
Chorus goes C, G, Em (in the video he goes high on the neck so I like to do it at 9777 (capo relative) but a regular 0432 will suffice), Am (as shaped above).
This is work I stole from ‘http://www.alligatorboogaloo.com/uke/tabs/050526.html’ and revised.
Sounds just about right, a few inconsistency here and there.
Comments and revisions most welcome.
Note: it is played half a step down, i.e. ‘C’ becomes ‘B’
[C]Sorry is the fool who trades his soul [F] for a Corvette
[D7]Thinks he’ll get the girl, he’ll only [E7] get the mechanic
[A7]What’s missing? He’s living [F]a day he’ll soon for[G]get
[mute the strings and strum the rythym quickly]
[F] That’s one more time around, [G7]the sun is going down
[E7]The moon is out, but he’s drunk and shouting, [A7]putting people down
[F]He’s pissing, [G7]he’s living a day he’ll soon forget [C] [F] [C]
[G7]Counts his money every [F]morning,[G7]the only thing that keeps him [F]horny
[G7]Locked in a giant house, that’s [F]alarming
[Fm]The townsfolk, they all laugh [G]
[muted strings strumming]
[C]Sorry is the fool who trades his love [F]for high-rise rent
[D7]Seems the more you make equals the loneliness you [E7]get
[A7]And it’s fitting, he’s barely living [F]a day he’ll soon for[G]get
[muted strings strumming]
[F]That’s one more time around, [G7]and there is not a sound
He’s [E7]lying dead, clutching Benjamins, never [A7]put the money down
[F]He’s stiffening, we’re all [G7]whistling, a man we’ll soon for[C]get
I just thought I’d post the chords for a nice song I heard on the ukulele….
BEARD SONG
perfomed by Sophie Madeleine
written by: Hannah Rockcliffe
D D7
There are beards that reach down to your toes
G Gm
And beards that grow right up your nose
D D7
They’re quite impressive I suppose
G A
But I think I love your beard the most
Well some are big and some are small
And some men don’t have one at all
My grandma had one I recall
But ladies beards aren’t beautifull
G D D7
Just the sight of a beard can cure you from
G D D7
Naked chins just leave me feeling down
G Gm
Oh if your beard was mine to kiss
D D7
I just don’t think I could resist
G A A7
Lately that’s all I’ve been dreaming of
Oh all great men who’ve been revered
Have facial hair from ear to ear
And even though its hard to hear
I think only love you for your beard.
Comes in three parts. Only have the demo version of Guitar Tab so had to screenshot them instead. I think the timing’s a beat out on the third part, but not sure where…Meh.
