In the original key:
Girls – Lust for Life (Chords)
Moved up a fret to make them more uke-friendly:
Girls – Lust for Life (Chords)
Requested by Stefanie.
EDIT: here’s a recording of some bits from this song that I did on my trusty 4 track (please excuse the tape hiss and warbly singing). So you can sort of get an idea of what I’m trying… excerpt from islands.mp3
Great album, for some reason I thought this one might be good to tackle on the uke – I haven’t figured out the instrumental outro bit yet, any help with this (or fixing any other bits) would be welcome!
Okay, so here’s what I’ve got for the verse:
g#||-----7-----5------3-----3-----------0-------------2-----|
d#||--------------1-1-----1------1----1-------1-----3---3---|
b||---------------------0-----0----2-------2-----4-------4-|
f#||-2-2---2-0----------------------2-----2-----0-----------|
and here’s the chorus (the “I am yours now” bit) not sure about the Em…
E B E C# D#m
g#||-0-3-0-0-2-|
d#||-1-0-1-1-3-|
b||-0-0-0-2-4-|
f#||-2-0-2-2-0-|
and then the bit where the guy starts singing:
g#||----------------------------------------------|
d#||-5-5/8-8/10--5-5\3-3\1--5-5/8-8/10--5 5\3-3\1-|
b||----------------------------------------------|
f#||----------------------------------------------|
Here are the lyrics:
VERSE
I don’t have to leave anymore
What I have is right here
Spend my nights and days before
Searching the world for what’s right here
VERSE
Underneath and unexplored
Islands and cities I have looked
Here I saw
Something I couldn’t over look
CHORUS
_____E_________
I am yours now
_______________B________________
So now I don't ever have to leave
__________E________
I've been found out
___________C#________D#m
So now I'll never explore
BIT WHERE THE GUY SINGS
See what I’ve done
That bridge is on fire
Going back to where I’ve been
I’m froze by desire
No need to leave
Where would I be
IF this were to go under
It’s a risk I’d take
I’m froze by desire
As if a choice I’d make
CHORUS AGAIN
I am yours now
So now I don’t ever have to leave
I’ve been found out
So now I’ll never explore

Lyrics
I could be loud man, I could be silent
I could be young man or I could be old
I could be a gentleman, or I could be violent
I could turn hot man or I could be cold
I could be just like the calm before the storm boy
Waitin’ for all hell yeah to break loose
I could be innocent or I could be guilty
Doesn’t mean that I don’t believe in the noose
So I’m singing …
(La bom bom bom bom, bom bom bom bom, bom bom bom bom bom ect)
I could be rich like a wandering gypsy
I could be poor like a fat wallet lost
I could be the first man or I could come last
It’s not who breaks the ribbon boy it’s how you get across
I could be red, blue, black or white sunset
As dark as a day boy or bright as a night
I could be the sun boy or I could be the moon
I made it from the stars so I’m shining so bright
So I’m singing…
I could be asleep boy, or I could be awake
I could be alive man or be the walking dead
I could be ignorant or I could be informed
I could lead my life man or I could be lead
I could be anything I put my mind to boy
All I gotta do is give myself a half-a chance
I could bring love back into my life
And share it with the world if I got some balance

Strum pattern is pretty easy to get from listening to the song – I believe that it’s 6 strums for all but the last of both the verse and chorus chords – the last chords get 7 strums. Also, on the last strum of the Aadd9 chord [2102] during the verse, I think it sounds right to lift up your finger on the ‘A’ string to briefly make an A chord [2100] before changing to the final B chord.
Check out the live version of the song on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AF4uv4a3m8k
Have fun with it! – and please comment if you think it can be improved.

Here’s an arrangement of the steel guitar standard played in Hawaiian slack key style. Just tune your 1st string down a full step (A-G); sounds best with a low G string. There’s a cheezy midi file to hear how it sounds. Have fun!
I absolutely adore this song by Damien Rice, and I can never find good enough chords! So here are my chords, and I they sound swell to me! Try it out.

…And so on. Hope you like it!
These are adapted from some guitar chords I found on Chordie. They didn’t sound exactly right so I played around with them a little bit.
Here’s my version: Seaside Chords
For the last verse, they do some finger picking along with the strumming. I emulate it by fretting the chords and then picking this pattern: (I’m referring to the strings as G, C, E, and A, and strums as D and U)
After the chorus, before the verse: C – A – - – E – A – E – A – E -
During the end verse: C – A – - – U – D – U – D -
Hopefully that makes sense.
