The Abbott company made a number of different instruments including banjo and guitars. But their most famous instrument was the Abbott Monarch banjo ukulele. It was this banjolele that George Formby used. As a result, the Abbott Monarch is very popular in the UK and hugely collectible. As a result, they can fetch very high prices (several thousand dollars).
Abbott Monarch banjoleles have a larger body and therefore louder and more forceful than the American style banjoleles such as the Slingerland ukuleles.

My Father has built the first ever, functional, ukulele made out of a conch shell. It has been patented as a Conchalele. Please check out the YouTube videos. He has really created a following of people who love the sound the conchalele produces. He is looking for a manufacturer for this product.
