Peter Lieberman: Maui Music Ukulele
Peter Lieberman is a Maui based luthier who makes ukuleles under the name of Maui Music.
Looks wise, their most distinctive feature is the elongated sound hole (echoed by an unusual hole in the headstock). His most famous range is the K Range of ukuleles endorsed by the Hawaiian musician Willie K.
I haven’t played them myself, but I have heard very good things about them.

I have had my Maui Music Concert Ukulele for over a decade. I play it daily and I love it! Very nice clean, bright sound. Plenty of volume too.
I’ve had my Maui Music tenor ukulele for almost two years now, and it is still the best sounding and looking of any ukulele I’ve ever played.
I met Peter at Ukefest NYC last year and walked away with an 8-string Mango concert. It has an amazing, unique sound to it, looks great and is something I play regularly.
Over the winter it got a little dry so I picked up a Dampit (small violin size) and now that it’s back to proper humidity it sounds even better.
Bryan, I strummed that very same 8-string concert at the ’10 NY Uke Fest numerous times. Very sweet! Congrats on a fantastic uke.
Inherited an 8 string koa from Maui Music–wonderful resonance and projection– light tenor with radius fretboard. Really nice to play–for some reason stays in tune the best of any of my ukes.
I bought my Maui Tenor 8 at Bounty Music on Maui in 1991. The bridge had a malfunction in 2013 & I contacted Peter about it & he sent me a new bridge at no cost which I had put on at Dusty Strings in Seattle. The uke is great & people always comment on its unique voice.
Got something to say?
