Kala Koa KA-KTE-C Ukulele
Kala are one of my favourite uke makers and the KA range provides a well made, good quality, laminated koa ukulele particularly suitable as a ‘second ukulele’ for people who want to take a step up from the introductory level ukes.
This uke has a Shadow Electronics active P3 pickup for amplified playing. The ‘C’ in the title refers to the cutaway (i.e. the indentation in the body that lets you reach more frets.

I love this uke! I got one used and think it is a fantastic buy. The strings are very firm- this is a nice feature. It has a nice resonance too.
Okay, it’s been about a year with the KA-KTE-C and I have a few things to saw:
1. I got the bridge re-glued and action lowered at a local uke shop and this TOTALLY changed the playability of the instrument. It’s much easier to play now.
2. The sustain is not as long as my red-cedar topped Pono baritone; however, the Pono is about 3x as expensive and a baritone at that…
3. All in all, very pleased with this uke after about a year of used ownership.
Got something to say?
