Makani are a father and son pairing from Japan. They are notable for their incredibly decorative inlays and soundhole carving. The quality of their ukuleles was recognised by the Ukulele Guild of Hawaii in 2008 where they won three of the five awards including best in show and best inlay. As you might guess, these ukuleles don’t come cheap. You can visit their website here.

I bought this uke because of its appearance but was so disappointed in the sound. I replaced the strings because I thought that might be the problem but it wasn’t. I cannot tune the A string properly. I don’t know exactly what the issue is but I contacted their website and they were unable to resolve the issue. I feel I wasted my money.

Got something to say?
