It’s amazing how much the price of solid wood ukuleles has come down in recent years. This is partly due to the number of firms making solid wood ukes in the Far East and partly due to the greater use of woods other than mahogany and koa. Kala have taken advantage of both these trends to produce the KA-SC which offers a great sound, solid construction and a reasonable price.

Spruce has a very punchy and immediate sound to it. One more traditionally associated with mandolin rather than ukulele. But it works great as a ukulele. I have a spruce top ukulele and always pull it out when a need a sound that’s going to cut through.
