The Saturday UkeTube

As well as the ukulele festival videos from Paris and Taunton and parts three and four of Bosco and Honey’s Ukulele Safari, there were plenty of other top uke performances this week including the ever growing ukulele tribute to The Cure.

Winston Goertz-Giffen – Buffalo Thoughts

James Ward – I Only Have Eyes for You

Snake Suspenderz – Don’t Get Around Much Anymore

Waitswatcher – Just Another Sucker on the Vine

Earlyguard – Siamese Twins

Earlyguard has inspired a bit of a Cure ukulele tribute on YouTube the last few weeks: Max, Ukebucket, Jules, Covuke, folikus.

Audrey Lighting – Cosmic Wave

James Clem – They’re Red Hot

Vincent Cortese – Rock That Uke

Phredd and Keilah – Invisible Friend

Some really fantastic performances here. I think its wonderful that such talented artists are able to circulate their work to such a wide audience.
And, well done to UKE HUNT for sending it round to us all…its a pleasure to open my emails these days to see what goodies UKE HUNT has sent!
P.S. I have already heard from some more people about the start up uke club here in Ireland…through your mentioning it in your newsletter.
    Thanks.

    Hey there Al,
this ain’t no festival, only our monthly ukulele meeting – every second thursday – in Paris.
(I would love to play one of those lighting ukes on stage, they’re simply gorgeous)

Swell, as always! I got to see HH from Snake Suspenderz play “don’t get around much” – what a great song – recently. And I was noodling with “friday I’m in love” earlier this week so it’s nice to see how someone else handled it.

Tony: Great news about the uke group. Let me know when you get up and running.

Bertrand: A bunch of ukers in one place counts as a festival in my eyes ;) Sounds like a lot of fun whatever you call it.

Pam: When are you and Hobbit getting together for a duet?

Hey Al thanks for the name drop as ever – yer a gent!

Pam – hope you liked the way I ‘handled’ it, but do give it a go, its a fun ol’ song and worth doing I reckon!

You’re welcome, Jules. I tried to work up a version of Love Cats, but it didn’t really come together. I’ll have to give it another shot.

Thanks to the person that put my uke video on your site. I am a blues musician living in Portland,OR USA and mainly play guitar, but love the ukulele! A lot of uke players and groups here in Portland. We are having a four day uke festival in June and I have just been added to the line up along with Lyle Ritz, Del Rey, Jim Beloff, Ralph Shaw, Joel Eckhaus and a few others I cannot think of right now. Love your site. Thank you again, James

Please contact me if you know the address of Bertrand’s monthly ukulele meeting – every second thursday – in Paris. I would love to listen and strum along. I am in Paris this week, having travelled from Fairfax, California with my ukulele. Merci
