About

Officially, the number one ukulele site.

Like everyone who picks up a ukulele, I’ve become completely obsessed. Once the council has granted planning permission, I hope be burned alive in a giant wicker ukulele to show my appreciation to the Ukulele Gods. Until that glorious day, I’ll be cramming this blog with tips, tabs, chords and ukulele news from around the web.

Uke Hunt is regularly updated with new posts being added (mostly) daily. You can make sure you don’t miss anything by subscribing to the RSS feed or by getting the posts by email (using the form below).

Here’s what you can expect to find on any given day:

Monday – Monday Exposure: hear the ukulele acts you should be checking out.
Wednesday – Ukulele 101: everything a beginner has to know about the ukulele.
Friday – Friday Links: the latest news and goings on in Ukeland.
. . . . . . .eBay Window Shopping: an occasional look at the most
. . . . . . . wallet-threatening items on eBay.
Saturday – The Saturday UkeTube: a roundup of my favourite ukulele videos of
. . . . . . . . . .the week.
Sunday: Theme tunes: TV, film, games and, on one occasion, a theme park ride. Anything connected with a film or TV show.
Tuesday and Thursday: ukulele tab and chords.

As well as writing this blog, I also write ukulele ebooks which you can buy at How to Play Ukulele. I started writing these to share the more in-depth ukulele know-how that’s too extensive for a quick blog post. You can get news of new ebooks, exclusive tabs and extracts and a free introductory fingerpicking course by signing up to the How to Play Ukulele mailing list.

Rarely Asked Questions

What’s that ‘Woodshed’ name about?

It’s a nickname I’ve been using since the dawn of the internet. Woodshedding is the practice of a jazz musician secluding himself in a small, Unabomber-style shack on a hillside in Derbyshire’s glittering Peak District until he’s created his ’sound’.

Did you know ‘Uke Hunt’ sounds rude if you say it out loud?

No, and anyone who thinks that has a filthy mind. I’m far too innocent to have any idea about that sort of thing.

Just call it Ukulele Hunt.

What’s your proudest blogging moment?

Close run thing between getting called ‘ace’ by the NME and James Hill putting me on his links page.
