Bishop Allen – Butterfly Nets

Bishop Allen – Butterfly Nets (Chords)

There are a couple of great ukulele tunes on Bishop Allen’s The Broken String album: Click, Click, Click, Click (which you can download on their website) and Butterfly Net.

Of the two, Butterfly Nets is by far the easiest to play – all baby’s first ukulele chords.

The version in the record is slightly different from the one in the video. As well as being longer, the album version is tuned slightly sharp and includes this little fingerpicking bit in the intro:

Strumming

A good, basic strumming pattern for this song would be down, down, up, up, down, up. Like this:

I’m kinda lame and can’t pick up strumming patterns for the life of me. Would you mind mapping it out for me. Thanks.

Anna: I’ve added a bit to the post about the strumming pattern.

Chad and maduke: I’ll have to have a think about the strum pattern post. I mostly just do it on instinct. Make them up as I go along.

I believe the chord should be G7 and not C in Verse 3, above the word spy…yes?

The C in verse 3 above spy should be G or G7 I’m almost positive. I personally think it sounds better with G.
