The Cure – Boys Don’t Cry

the cure ukulele tab

MP3

This one is incredibly late for the Ukulele Tribute to The Cure. I’m amazed no one did a cover of this as it works very well on the uke.

For those who thought my version of Don’t Fear the Reaper needed more cowbell.

UPDATE: Grant Lee Phillips used a uke in his cover of the tune (Thanks to Anna for the heads up).

cbf: No, I had to Google b3ta to check what it was (I have been there before).

brian: Good luck with it. There’s nothing to complicated in there.

Probably this has been posted before but I was strolling on ebay and found a 25,000 US$ Martin 5K.

I don’t know about ukes but I guess it has to be the best ukulele ever made because… 25000$???

Granted, it’s not a solely ukulele cover but you should check out the version Grant Lee Phillips did of this song on his “Nineteeneighties” album…definitely some uke in there. Great work and awesome riff! I always look forward to more great stuff here!

newbie: Thanks for the link. If I remember correctly, they had a few guitars up for sale at extortionate prices as well. I’d say the real value of it is about half the asking price.

ukulelezo: I look forward to hearing whichever one you choose.

cbf: She could pull it off.

Isaac: It certainly is. This is easily my favourite Cure song.

Anna: Thanks for that. I’ll add a link to the post.

my god woodshed you are amazing, thank you for putting this up. i listened to you playing ‘this charming man’ which is one of my favourite songs, but sadly i am no where near good enough to play it myself. the music you have put up just made my day

Imogen: Thanks very much for the kind words. I appreciate it.

I think the chords are A, B, C up a fret then, C up two frets then back down through all of them.

As far as I can tell the chords are A, Bm, C#m and D, with the D fretted 5567. B and C sound wrong to me, the minor versions seem to work.

Helpfully, these are all B or Bm-form chords so you don’t need to do much more than slide your fretting hand up and down the neck.

    Draco: Congratulations!
