The secret is out; I’m a massive Mariah fan.

Or not. I decided to write up the song after watching the ukulele version by Mariel a la Mode and Uni and her Ukelele. But I ended up missing the jazzier chords in it and wrote up the Mariah version instead. But they’re both in the same key and not a million miles apart, so play along with whichever you prefer.

Plus, it has the de rigueur Christmas intro:

    You didn’t get the ‘jazzier’ chords? But only managed to listen out for the uber-well known E Flat 5! Well shame on you!

    During my last breakup I watched Love Actually 3 or 4 times and came out with a love of that Mariah Carey song and Both Sides Now. Is that a movie I’m supposed to hate or something? Or is it a chick flick? Nuthin shameful about liking corny movies, I say!

    Jodi: There’s shame for me in liking corny movies. It ruins my image as a mad, bad and dangerous to know hard-man. Which is a difficult image to uphold when you cry the whole way through Forest Gump.

    The original Lisa Layne version with Vince Vance and the Valients knocks it out of the park. This Mariah Carey version is not even close.
