Dent May and His Magnificent Ukulele – Meet Me in the Garden (Chords)

Dent May and His Magnificent Ukulele – Meet Me in the Garden (Chords)

Looks like I’m going to be doing a Beirut on the Dent May album, The Good Feeling Music of….

The album version of Meet Me in the Garden has the uke turned down and guitar and Gainsbourg-ness turned up compared to the demo version but with the 6th and major 7 chords it still keeps a very island theme.

Suggested Strumming Pattern

For the Eb6 and B7M chords:

d – x u d – x u x u x u d u d u

The x’s are chnks (bring the underside of your strumming hand down on the strings to mute them).

For ‘Out by the pond…’:

d – x – u d u

for Eb6 and F6 and just d u d u … for the G.

Awesome! I was hoping that you were going to put the chords up for this one. I’m going to see Mr. Dent May on March 7th in Pontiac, Michigan.
My favorite part is the voice flutter on, “we can fly through the air [flutter]”. Great.
For some reason I picture Dent riding 50 c.c. scooter or some type of mo-ped.
    Thanks for the chords.

Andy: Have a great time. It seems like he’s only supporting Animal Collective over here. I’m not a big fan, so I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it.

tryan: Congrats on raising kids with fine taste!

Ohhh so bossa or tropicalia or whatever! I like it!

I wasn’t very sure about Dent May, ‘too much of a Merritt ripoff’ I thought…but seems I was very wrong about the guy.

    Thanks for the chords&strumming pattern!

He’s really gone with the Warren Zevon look.

Very good song, just checking out the rest of his stuff on the ‘tube.

  7. Woodshed February 22nd, 2009 4:05 pm

byjimini: Oh, I see what you mean. I was thinking bearded Zevon at first.

  8. byjimini February 22nd, 2009 4:43 pm

    Yeah, an early Zevon.

    Hi Woodshed,

Any chance for more Dent May stuff in particular 26 miles or I’m an alcoholic?

  17. Woodshed August 10th, 2010 8:21 pm

Tony: From what I’ve heard of his new stuff, not much chance. He seems to be moving away from the uke.

  18. byjimini August 10th, 2010 10:42 pm

    “26 Miles” is a simple C Am F G.
