Yiruma – River Flows In You (Tab)

Yurima – River Flows in You (Tab)

MP3

I’ve done plenty of TV, book and game themes but I think this is the first book theme I’ve done. There seems to be a fair bit of confusion about what constitutes Bella’s/Edward’s Lullaby which I got caught up in. When I was working it out, as a very cheap Christmas present for a friend, I thought I was working out the song from the film. But it turns out this version is in the film and Yiruma’s River Flows In You was decided to be the theme by a bunch of fans. And I think the fans got it right. River Flows in You has a very sweet catchy melody. And the official piece, well, it’s a bit shit.

Dang. I was working on this before you came and did it… But still your’s is much better than mine. I’ve got some friends that are big Twilight fans and they’ll be delighted.

Jimmy: Yes, it’s a good tune for impressing girls.

  3. Jimmy February 23rd, 2009 12:09 am

Haha yeah, you know that’s what I meant ;)

  4. Tuscadero February 23rd, 2009 5:25 am

wow. that is so pretty. I am nowhere close to understanding how to strum the fast part, but thanks for posting this, I have a new project, I’m afraid.

  5. Sharpen February 23rd, 2009 9:15 am

Wow, i’m stunned. That is a cheap present. Haha.

  6. Mike Woodhouse February 23rd, 2009 11:54 am

  7. Art Crocker February 23rd, 2009 12:01 pm

Al, great piece of work on the ukulele and arrangement. I have to ask at risk of a foolish question, It looks like around measure 12 and on that you are showing that only selected strings are muted (with an x) on some of the chords. If I have that right, how did you come up with doing that partial muting thing?
    Art

  8. Woodshed February 23rd, 2009 10:03 pm

Tuscadero and Art: I’ll try to add to the post tomorrow to clear a few things up.

Sharpen: Except if I’d spent the time working I would have earned enough to buy a decent present.

Mike: My mistake. Thanks for letting me know.

  12. Colleen April 10th, 2009 11:01 pm

i am a little confused on how to strum this. do you strum only the strings that the arrow is next to? and what about the ones where only certain strings are muted? this is amazing though, i cant wait to learn how to play it!

  13. Cam April 20th, 2009 11:36 pm

Hmm..I Swear that Bella’s Lullaby was going to be Kiss the Rain, by Yiruma. But I love this song better <3 I dunno if I am incorrect, but I am pretty sure that it’s Kiss the Rain that is gonna be Bella’s Lullaby..If I am wrong..Sorry ._.

  14. Ukeukeuke September 5th, 2009 6:00 pm

Do anyone care to make a videolesson of this song, or something like that? I’m having a hardtime strumming and playing the “tabs” at the same time, if you understand.

  15. Sammi October 2nd, 2009 6:16 pm

  16. Woodshed October 2nd, 2009 6:54 pm

Sammi: It’s definitely a tricky one to play – not suitable for beginners.

  26. kate November 21st, 2010 9:20 pm

It’s a shame that twilight had to go and ruin a lovely peice of music :)

  27. karly November 23rd, 2010 2:35 am

This song is so great… does anyone have a video tutorial for it? I can’t get the strumming right. How are they strumming all the strings when it says to only strum two? Confused.

  28. Birgitte February 13th, 2011 7:59 am

Thank you a lot for adding this tab.. I just started playing ukulele, and I abselutely love the instrument.
I were not agreeing with the tab completely so I made a few changes to my version, but still thanks a lot for the tab :D

  29. Mark July 16th, 2011 4:12 am

can you make a video tutorial? i can’t really read the tabs.. :) thanks.. i’ll just wait if you’ll make one and i’ll just keep on practicing this song :)

  30. Woodshed July 18th, 2011 3:16 pm

Mark: Sorry, I don’t do video tutorials.

  31. Sarah October 28th, 2011 8:21 pm

Totally awesome, thanks! I’m not the best because I’m pretty new to the ukelele (I’ve played the piano for the last 8 years or so) but I really found this to be a great song to play, especially as I love Yiruma. :)

  32. Woodshed October 29th, 2011 9:16 am

    Sarah: Thanks!

  33. Shelley December 8th, 2011 5:03 pm

Hey guys! How do you mute strings like x7x0 in the tab?

  34. Andrea December 21st, 2011 3:25 pm

    Edward/Bella as in twilight? o.O

  35. Woodshed December 21st, 2011 4:11 pm

Andrea: Yes, that Edward and Bella.

  36. JB December 26th, 2011 7:04 pm

helli :) i love your tab! thanks a lot!
but i have no clue how to mute only one string… can anyone explain it ? thanks a ton :)

  37. Woodshed December 27th, 2011 11:24 am

JB: With the fretting hand. It depends on the string. With the g-string, I usually use my thumb.

  38. Anna February 17th, 2012 2:13 am

This is so amazing. Is there a simpler version of this. i just started and i really want to play this song, but this is a bit difficult for me! Great playing by the way!

  39. Woodshed February 17th, 2012 5:11 pm

Anna: Sorry, I haven’t done a simpler version.

  40. James February 18th, 2012 1:51 am

Im so sad now cause I have liked this song and then just found out it was in twilight :,(

  41. Woodshed February 19th, 2012 9:01 am

James: It wasn’t in Twilight, it was just adopted by Twilight readers. I hope that means you can still like it!

  42. kss1996 June 2nd, 2012 12:43 am

Proud that I am Korean now. Love this great piece of music and i wish to master it sooner or later

  43. Woodshed June 2nd, 2012 8:08 am

kss1996: You should always be proud to be Korean!

  44. Clara June 4th, 2012 12:40 pm

    FANTASTIC

  45. Woodshed June 6th, 2012 10:55 pm

    Clara: Glad you like!

  46. kristin August 13th, 2012 4:14 am

thank you for this! but i’m not quite sure how to do the tabs with the x symbol.. what does it mean exactly?

  47. Woodshed August 13th, 2012 9:49 pm

kristen: It means you have to block the string and stop it sounding.

  48. Merv August 24th, 2012 7:00 am

This is awesome! But need help on the strumming? anyone?

  49. Sandra September 1st, 2012 5:24 pm

Just been looking for my new “favourite” tune and think I’ve found it – thanks, really lovely arrangement and can’t wait to try it out. PS What’s twilight?

  50. Woodshed September 3rd, 2012 12:28 pm

    Sandra: Glad you enjoyed it!

  51. Daniel September 8th, 2012 2:41 pm

When strumming, the down arrow means that you strum it downwards? I’m asking because the tabs are “upside down”, compared to the strings of the ukulele and that would also be logic if the down arrow meant that you strum it upwards. Thanks in advance.

  52. Jk September 8th, 2012 8:33 pm

You should get rid of the “Japan” tag and replace it with korea

  53. Woodshed September 9th, 2012 1:53 pm

Daniel: Yeah, the strums are upside down too. So an up arrow is a down strum and vice versa.

    Jk: Thanks. Fixed it.

  54. Andrew January 2nd, 2013 6:01 pm

Woodshed, how do I navigate to only your videos?

  55. Woodshed January 3rd, 2013 12:21 pm

Andrew: You can’t on the site. But they’re all here.

  56. Andy February 19th, 2013 11:34 pm

Can you please do a video cover on this? I think that would help a lot!

  57. Woodshed February 20th, 2013 8:15 am

Andy: I have been meaning to but it requires learning it again as I’ve completely forgotten it.

  58. Vic February 27th, 2013 7:27 am

Wow this is awesome. I loved playing it on the piano, but it seems much harder on the uke… So fast.

  59. Vic February 27th, 2013 7:29 am

Not really related to this song but… Have you considered doing a tab for the Game of Thrones theme song? I noticed that you did tabs for a lot of other shows/movies, and the Game of Thrones song is pretty epic…

  60. Woodshed February 27th, 2013 12:43 pm

Vic: Thanks! I haven’t but Uke of Carl has done a tab for it.

  61. peter May 9th, 2013 4:38 am

it’s cool, but some chords in the song does not sound like the original one. btw, ur book is awesome.

  62. Woodshed May 9th, 2013 9:46 am

    peter: Thanks very much.

  63. Haley August 17th, 2013 3:18 am

    This song is beautiful…..

  64. Nicholas November 26th, 2013 2:27 pm

I don’t really get it… What is this (x) in the tab and should we do that??

  65. Woodshed November 29th, 2013 2:45 pm

Nicholas: They’re muted notes. You stop the string from ringing by muting it with your fretting hand.

  66. Lauren December 28th, 2013 1:49 am

This has been a favorite song of mine for years. Whenever I need to unwind, I put this song on repeat. Glad to find tabs for it so I can finally learn to play it myself! Thanks so much!!

  67. Woodshed December 28th, 2013 8:10 am

    Lauren: You’re very welcome!

  68. Andy January 13th, 2014 10:38 pm

great song, great tab. Just asking though are you playing the song exactly how it is in the tab? not sure if its just me but it sounds a little different in some areas, but nevertheless great tab i am trying to master!

  69. Woodshed January 14th, 2014 8:04 am

Andy: It’s possible there are some differences. But those will just be embellishments to the tab or slightly different ways of playing the same thing.

  70. Andy January 14th, 2014 11:49 pm

do you play bar 11 how it is? could you give me a little help with the bar, i am having some difficulty playing the bar how it is in the tab, do you have any pointers?

  71. Woodshed January 15th, 2014 8:30 pm

Andy: I can’t remember for sure but it sounds like it’s played how it’s written in the tab.

  72. jean January 18th, 2014 7:11 am

what are you doing differently thats not in the tab? when i compare my playing to your recording of the song yours sounds alot nicer to me playing the tab exactly how it is.

  73. Woodshed January 18th, 2014 11:16 am

Jean: I’m pretty sure there isn’t much if any difference between them.

  74. Ziko May 19th, 2014 2:02 pm

How do you make strumming sound while pushing a particular fret on a given string too?

  75. Woodshed May 20th, 2014 8:08 am

Ziko: Where there just one note played with a strum? I just strum as normal but stop the other strings from ringing by resting my other fingers on the fretting hand on the strings.

  76. Chloe August 16th, 2014 1:32 pm

Thank you so much for all this! Just wondering, you’ve done lots of movie and TV series tabs, could you do musical music like Phantom of the opera or les miserables?

  77. Woodshed August 17th, 2014 10:50 am

Chloe: I’m not a fan of musicals. So probably not, I’m afraid.

  78. Roriefel December 31st, 2014 4:06 am

Could you also make a tab of Canon in C. Pls. :)

  79. Alfian March 2nd, 2015 1:20 pm

How to the 4th verse… i cant seem to understand…… (._.) how bout you do a video of strumming of this song?

  80. eric January 8th, 2016 12:53 am

totaly amazing! The only thing this can be described is amazing.

  81. Matthew Geiger August 20th, 2016 6:06 am
