Three videos that had me clutching my sides with laughter: Hilary Clinton and John McCain do the Ukulele Forum Rap, Ukulele en Francais and Unicorn Fantasy (that last one is NSFW and via Zym).

The Guardian Music Blog discusses the ukulele resurgence with Dent May, Jens Lekman (who seems to be a titanic knobhead) and the world’s handsomest ukulele blogger. If you’re at all interested in what I said in the rest of the interview, you can read it here.

Getting Serious… about Ukulele: “The thing is — with a very few exceptions — for my money there isn’t that much creativity around in the world of uke design.”

The Ukulele Bible: “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Ukulele shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels. In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not Ukulele, and that obey not the gospel of our Ukulele. Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Ukulele, and from the glory of his power.” (Thessalonians 1:7-9)

Not sure where to put this but I’d really love a tab for ‘Jump’ by Van Halen. I know it’s eighties but it is a keyboard riff and you said you were doing some.

    Cheers

for keyboard riffs not from the 80’s I’d have to go with touch me by the doors

and maybe the beginning of Ina Gadda Davida, that looks tricky though

I like Mike’s idea for Jump too, and vampire weekend must have some keyboards

“If there’s two things I will never do, it would be grow a beard and pick up the uke again.”

And thirdly, you’ll never enjoy this level of media interest/fame ever, ever again!

Mike: Thanks for the suggestion. It’s on the list of possibilities.

Vincent: Thanks. I was thinking about the intro to Light My Fire – might be a bit tricky. I’ll have to remember In Gadda for the next set of guitar riffs.

byjimini: And without the beard, he’s going to get no uke girl interest.

I got my own arrangement for Jump on ukulele. It skips the insane solo and is mostly just for the vocal melody but the main riff is in there. And the ending guitar thing. I made it so I could play the song over my back-up tape. I think i’ll try to make a youtube video out of it. If you’re still interested in the song, contact me (Sunt1o) on youtube.
