Saturday UkeTube

The most interesting video this week is of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain being joined by Yusuf ‘Cat Stevens’ Islam for a version of Peace Train. You can watch the Uke’s other performance on the show here.

Also this week are GUGUG, Ukesysteemi (the 14-year old, Finnish, slightly fuckin’ awesome version of GUGUG) and the usual mix of old friends and new favourites.

One video that didn’t make the cut is this one by me. I’m all excited about going to see Imelda May tomorrow so I knocked out some rockabilly cliches and pulled some stupid faces.

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain with Yusuf Islam – Peace Train

equality53000 – New Math

GUGUG – Sweet Gene Vincent

Ukesysteemi – Have Love, Will Travel

The Gentle Surprise – Puchunguita, Ven

Franny Deschanel – I’ve Seen Giants

dalys09 – Nobody Knows Me At All

Todd Baio – The Swapping Song

Yes, I agree! The Gentle Surprise is particularly good, if for no other reason, than for the amount of work put into the video and song. Very nice :)

Jodi: I can’t decide on a featured video this week. Gentle Surprise looks like the people’s choice.

Mary: Little known fact: The Gentle Surprise is a group of identical quints.

We must all be in awe of cat stevens…I love Gus and Fin all the way…but it’s Franny Deschanel for me…Quirky…LoFi…Lovley voice…and great song writing skills…I’ll stop gushing now and go to buy me some pyjamas…

Another most excellent Uke Tube ! The Finnish are amazing and I also really liked The Gentle Surprise , Franny Deschanel’s sweet video and Todd who always has great songs, not forgetting the UOGB and Cat Stevens who make an interesting mix. I am glad you’re putting up more videos on YouTube because they’re really excellent !
    Keep it up !

That uke orchestra vid is sweet….but your rock-a-billy stomp thing is ace…we simply must have tabs for that!

Nick: He definitely seems to have hit a rich seam with his songwriting at the moment.

Armelle: Well, I have to get some video practice. I still hate doing them.

Jimmy: It always seems weird tabbing out stuff I’ve come up with myself. Not sure why that would be. But I rarely do it.
