Katzenjammer, Ukulelezo: Saturday UkeTube

Every week as I’m putting this post together I’m amazed how much talent there is around. And it’s almost always better than the dreck that ends up on the TV and radio. Certainly they are more individual and heartfelt.

This week includes another song from Clare Costa. Last week she was singing in French, this week Italian. She’s obviously pitching for a mention on Ukulele & Languages. Katzenjammer’s ukulele song finally shows up (although the sound quality leaves a bit to be desired). And if Zoe doesn’t win Seeso’s Hip Hop doohicky I’m calling shenanigans.

Katzenjammer – Cherry Pie

Ukulelezo – Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun

Neal Paisley – Patricia’s Waltz

Clare Costa – Come Back To Sorrento

Tristen w/Larissa Maestro

Todd Baio – King Kong Kitchie Kitchie Ki Mi

AbbyPlaysGuitar – Two Dollar Bill

The Jerrys – Polly Urethane

captbaritone – My Home Town

Tom Lehrer’s song took an interesting turn…..fun….

loved the Tristen and Larissa tune….great harmonies….

Abby had a great little tune….i was caught by what looks to be a ‘bakelite’ fretboard on her uke?

Zoe’s song….brilliant…..sometimes other contestants just need to pack up and go home :)

The Jerrys…..their song seems like a candidate for your song of the week…..i loved it….

    thanks Al,

    Todd

p.s. glad you liked the chubby parker cover…..definitely a mouthful ha ha

Wow. Great songs again this week Al !

Katzenjammer : great to see them play the ukulele. Although last week’s video without ukes was more powerful.

I agree : Zoe has to win the UU contest. Brilliant song !

Clare Costa will get a mention in Ukulele and Languages for sure. This has given me an idea for a post.. Thanks :)
    What a voice !

Todd’s cover of King Kong… is very good.

Captbaritone has a great voice too !

Hi unrelated comment, but i saw the WIUO yesterday in concert.

was awesome, Bret made an appearance.

It’s got to be clare. I’d swim across the bay of Naples to get back to Sorrento!

Great singing, easy and effective uke arrangement.

    Love it.

Jinxter: She’s definitely got a voice on her.

Woodshed: Bret Mckenzie of Flight of the Conchords fame turned up at the concert. It was so awesome!

    William: Never heard of him.

todd- i have never heard of bakelite before, but i did a little research on it and i suppose it would make sense that it is. i bought the ukulele from a used instrument store, and its from the 1950s.

Zoe’s video is simply amazing. Woodshed, any chance of tabbing it up?

  14. Woodshed June 30th, 2009 5:09 pm

    phi: C – C7 – C – C7 – B7 – Bb7

    Then the other bit is: Bb7 – A7 Eb7

All the 7 chords are played with the shape 3433

They’re all terrific, and Zoe’s a great choice for video of the week. But what a find Clare Costa is!

  17. Woodshed July 1st, 2009 9:57 pm

Acilius: Clare Costa has a fantastic voice – no doubt. But I do wish there was a little more going on with the uke.
