Svavar Knutur, Brett Domino, Eliza Newman: UkeTube

Videos this week include Svavar Knutur via Ukulele Languages, Brett Domino bringing sexy and a host of fantastic instruments back, Kate Micucci giving herself a nap after confusing herself with tax terms (watch this video first if you want the set-up to the song), some nasty blues-funk from Manitoba Hal and Primrose with the least safe for work song I’ve ever featured.

WIUO! Whahoo! I love this video and I’m surprised, because the song is definitely not one of my favorites.

Manitoba Hal wow. That’s an original? Welcome to the varsity team. Excellent.

Craig: I’m not much of a fan of the song either. But WIUO could make me love anything.

Alec: Agreed. I think I should have put that on the front page. Tough choice this week.

    Buncha good ones again, Al.

My top pick is Poulet Shack because, duh!, Manitoba Hal.

Still wish I could make out more lyrics from the Bobby McGees because I really like their style. Damn Yank ears, anyway.

Today’s surprise fave was Brett Domino. I saw “Justin Timberlake” and went all “eeeww!” and stuff but listened anyway and liked it. Go figger.

Ooops! Forgot to mention… Ukulolo was his usual fab self, both in the musical and video departments.

I´m so glad you brought up Svavar!
I picked up his album when I was on Iceland, an awsome album. Not to many ukesongs, but awsome stuff!
Even if I don´t understand everything he is singing about….

These are all great, but the fact that the Brett Domino song also featured recorders tickled me to no end.

The Wellington Orchestra are AMAZING! And the name reminds me of wish Wellingtons which makes me happy.

Not safe for work? I don’t know what you mean Uke Hunt. xxxxxx

    Al,

Another wonderful selection, I make your blog a weekly thing – but don’t always comment. Wellington fantastic – these guys are masters of orchestration.

and Ukulolo – he has way too much time on his hands – I really like his approach.

Also thanks for posting Kate Micucci, this weeks entry for the cute girl with a Ukulele (great voice too).

    Excellent collection this week! Kudos.

I’ll admit I love me some JT, the medley was ace and has raised my opinion on Brett Domino. Good show.

And Kate Micucci is as badass as ever. <3 her

    Svavar Knútur – Clementine
    dang…just dang…loved it!!!

Hobbit: I was surprised to like the Brett Domino one as well. I only recognised the first song in the medley (quite proud of that).

JIKvig: Thanks. Glad I came across him. Top song writer.

Nick: Let’s not start on the guitboard vs. keytar. There’ll be blood spilled.

    louis: Fame at last!

aimee: I had to Google Wish Wellingtons. I’m so out of touch these days.

Josie: I suppose it very much depends where you work. I very much would like to work where this sort of thing is allowed.

Mark: I know. I don’t know how Ukulolo has the patience to do it. But I’m glad he does.

    Boz: Thanks.

Jimmy: I like a lot of Brett Domino’s videos. But this one is definitely something of a breakthrough.

    todd: Glad you enjoyed.

Seems like Kate is channeling her inner Louis Armstrong…

Clementine is one of my favorite ukulele songs and I’ve been trying to figure it out by ear and struggling a little bit. I’ve figured out the three main chords F, 2-0-1-3, and Bb but can’t figure out the strumming pattern. I’d like to play this for my choir concert and help would be much appreciated.
