Paolo Nutini, Savannah Smith: UkeTube

Favourite video this week is a short and sour song from Savannah Smith. There’s only 1 minute and 13 seconds of it so I highly recommend listening to it five times in a row. Credit goes to Bossa for turning me onto Savannah and helping me to convince her to do a video for this song.

Also this a reet-petiting good time from Paolo Nutini, a Daniel Johnston cover with belated ukulele from Mates of State, Tift Merritt’s drummer and plenty more besides.

Savannah Smith – Ventriloquism

Herschel Stratego – We’re Gonna Get Married

Paolo Nutini – Pencil Full of Lead

Sarah King – Stealing

Joy Rachelle – Guard Down

Mates of State – True Love Will Find You in the End

David’s Lyre – You’ve Got the Love/Starry Eyed

Tift Merritt / Zeke Hutchins – Evel Knievel

Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together? Looking forward to hearing more from Sav! I also enjoyed Sarah King, Paolo Nutini & Herschel Stratego. Hersch is your second wedding reference in less than a week – is there something you’re not telling us?

John: Thanks for the heads up on that.

    Bossa: I’m marrying my ukulele.

I’m not marrying my ukulele. We’re just shackin’ up.

Meanwhile, back on topic, Paolo Nutini done rocked my world. Wonder if he’d loan me his Vipers for a little bit?

Lots of other good ones in this bunch, but Paolo takes the coveted *cough* “Howlin’ Hobbit Award For Excellence In Swinging Tunes Featuring Ukulele.”

(There would be a plaque for the award but engraving is charged by the letter and the name is too long.)

I’m lovin’ David’s Lyre even though it’s quite clearly a uke.
I think you should listen to/do a post on these guys. They are from Brighton after all…

Hobbit: Is that the award all the kids are calling HHAFEISTFU?

Lukey: I was surprised to like the David’s Lyre video. Can’t stand either of those two songs.

Hundred Little Reasons need to do some videos. I like them enough to put a video up but not enough to do a whole post on them.

Ha! Yes, that’s the very one.

(Just where are these kids anyway?)

I’m “these kids”, just the other day at school my friends and I were discussing who would be the lucky winner of the HHAFEISTFU.

John, there’s also a uke in Toy Story 2 in the flashback when the cowgirl doll is singing her song.
