Spring Breakup, Kalapu Uasila’a: UkeTube

Top of the crop this week are two videos from Mathias ‘The Burning Hell‘ Kom’s Spring Breakup. Also up is a stunning Tongan send-off, Bartt and Ukulollo ripping it up, a band that bears a passing resemblence to The Folksmen and, horror of horrors, a football song.

Spring Breakup – Peepers & Howlers

Kalapu Uasila’a – Himi 15 Uesiliana

Yoyoyo Acapulco – Orange

Thanks Bossa.

Clapperjord – Why Is A Goal Not Always A Goal?

Ukulele Bartt and Ukulollo

Thispenguin – Eatin’ Cookie

Thous&Thees – Bikes and Rides

Blue 4 Trio – Hot Jazz Pie

The Strumpettes – Minnie the Moocher

Gwynthesizer – Winter is Blue

Oh how I love The Burning Hell. Hide in the Sea with the “crazy banjo solo”? Pure win.

I need to comment more often. I’ve missed you Al.

Gwyn succeeded in taking a haunting song and making it even more haunting (on the least haunting of all instruments, no less). Excited to see what else he has in store.

Lovely cover of the Vashty Bhunyan song…saw her play earlier this year..beautiful!

I have a song for the England football team, sung to the tune of 3 lions it goes:
    Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
    (repeat)

Bit more of a chore watching the vids this time. Not for lack of quality but because it appears that the latest (Linux) version of Firefox doesn’t like embedded YouTubes. Every single one (including a couple NOT on your post, so it ain’t you, Al) gave this message: “An error occurred, please try again later.” (How informative!) But clicking the “watch on YouTube” link worked fine.

Damn I loves me some high tech.

Meanwhile I’ve got to give the nod to my hometown boys, The Blue 4 Trio, even though I’ve seen that vid before.

The Strumpettes also did a fine job though the ukulele playing seemed to be a bit pale to be backing up those great close harmonies. Oh, and they skipped some of the cooler verses.

Last but not least, even though it was another tenor love-fest, Bartt just shredded hell out of the thing and I liked it.

I just found this site, and I wanted to thank you! I just got a ukulele, and I’ve been trying to learn songs I actually like on it, but it’s quite difficult. Your site it a huge help. :)
