Nigel Burch, Dala: UkeTube

Nickel Creek have always been too smooth and nicey-nicey for my tastes. So I’ve been a bit slow in picking up on Sara Watkins. But she is incredible. This song had me in tears.

Also up this week: Dala (who are being supported/blown off the stage by Ukulelezo in a couple of weeks), Nigel Burch and his banjolele (who may be unwelcome on the London Underground but are very welcome here) and plenty more.

Sara Watkins – Where Will You Be

Brian Hefferan and Lil Rev – Sandy Boys

Nigel Burch and the Flea-Pit Orchestra – The Worst Is Yet To Come

Loudon Wainwright III – On To Victory, Mr Roosevelt

Hat tip Ukulele Pr0n

Dala – Harvest Moon

Thanks to Jenny.

Carol Anne McGowan – I’ll Be Seeing You

Thanks Jeff.

Peter and the Wolf – Silent Movies

uketreehugger – Don’t Know Why

Garret Baker – Love’s Death-knell

Thanks Jeff.

Great to see Loudon Wainwright on the uke…have been a big fan of his for years. I just wish he’d stop doing that creepy tongue thing when he performs.

Lovely tune by Sara, I can see, bad ears, an F, Bb and G7 but what is that chord she slides to?

    Great selection

I’d be curious about the chords to the Sara Watkins song as well. What type of uke is that she’s playing?

L.bo Marie: Thanks for the tissue.

    Eric: You and me both.

    Herman: Glad you liked.

Peter, Howard and Jill: F, Bb and G are the shapes she’s playing. But I think she’s tuned down a whole step.

Can’t quite make out the brand name on the uke Sara Watkins is playing. Anybody know? Interesting that she’s tuning down a whole step; I’ve read that James Hill tunes his up a step.

    George: It’s an Andy Powers.

You’re right about James Hill tuning up, but that’s much more common.
