Sonic the Hedgehog – Boss Level (Tab)

Sonic Boss Level (Game Gear) (Tab)

I think I’m pitching at a very narrow audience with this one. As it happens, I don’t have any memories of this tune either – never had a Game Gear. I came across it because I’ve recently grown an obsession with 8-bit music. And Sonic has some serious tunes . I love this one. And I have to work up a full uke version of Nullsleep’s Her Lazer Light Eyes. There’s been a half done version in the Rag Bag (PDF link) for years.

In my 8-bit searches I stumbled across this tune and immediately decided it was made to played on the uke. I was a little bit wrong. There are are tricky bits in the arrangement: a long stretch up to the 12th fret and a lot sliding around. But I think it turned out quite well.

The video that I used to work out the tune from has been pronged by YouTube but you can just about hear it in this video – along with the little ‘Level Clear’ tune that’s at the end of my arrangement.

Although I didn’t recognise that particular song it was amazing nonetheless.
More chiptune music to ukulele would be awesome, it seems to have this great connection.

rico: I’m still debating that myself. I’m thinking of getting myself a Geiger Counter for xmas so I’ll let you know what I think.

Ta. After watching countless demos (and making myself dizzy with nerdy quandariness!) I’m pretty much going for the G.C. too. It just has so much going for it.

rico: At the moment I’m taken with the idea of putting an autoharp through the Geiger Counter. Which would require me to buy an autoharp but would probably be worth it.

I think it would be worth it! Brilliant idea.
I’ve got a cigar box 3 string – Kaossilator – Geiger Counter idea going in my head but the autoharp…wow…so many harmonic/drone possibilities.

Going off the thread, but in the original Sega version, the music was by the Japanese group Dreams Comes True.

Both ‘casino night’ and ‘mystic cave zone’ from Sonic 2 are very nice soundtracks and I’d love a ukulele tab!
