The Hives and Cyndi Lauper – A Christmas Duel (Chords)

The Hives and Cyndi Lauper – A Christmas Duel (Chords)

It could be the swearing that does it for me rather than the Swedishness. But that would make this my favourite Christmas song.

Suggested Strumming

All down strums for the first bit (and the odd other bit in the song). And this one should see you through:

d – d u – u d –

Twice for each chord in the verses. Once for each chord in the bridge and chorus (except the last ones).

Twiddly Bits

It’s always a bit of a fag moving stuff from piano to uke but this just about works.

If you don’t have a 15th fret, just go with a standard C chord at the end.

(Holy crumble, Gary Glitter is on that album – maybe don’t buy the whole thing).

“I slept with your sister” “went down on your mother” real
classy. Bashing Christmas is getting a little tired. I’m not
religious, and all for having a good time, but have a little respect. If not for others, than at least for your self.(Cyndi) How are we going to make this a better world if we think treating others like this is funny?
Have your self a Merry Christmas.

jsorrien: How’s this song bashing Christmas? The whole point of it is that Christmas isn’t about presents and trees but about forgiveness and enjoying each others’ company. And Christmas certainly isn’t about being classy.

I have looked for the chords for this song since i heard it, Thanks for putting it up. This is one of the best Christmas songs i have heard in ages. I agree with Woodshed, this is a very Christmasy song and not “bashing” the holiday season in the slightest. And what do you mean “How are we going to make this a better world if we think treating others like this is funny?”. Not quite sure you have got the message of the song. Once again this song is brilliant and am only annoyed i did not hear it when it first came out.

I’m an advocate of this song. It’s amazing what I’d be willing to put up with from a pretty Swedish man.

Cool tune, wasn’t what I expected at all lol, very funny lyrics, glad I stumbled on it. Just a pitty there is no video to go with it.
