Winter NAMM 2011: Friday Links

Bossa has set up a Facebook page for the Uke Hunt podcast. So like it or friend it or do whatever it is you do on Facebook.

Lots of ukulele stuff flooding in from Winter NAMM 2011. Ukulele Underground have been interviewing all the players, Ukeeku has a look at the Martin S1 and there’s a look at Kala’s Ukeadelic range and solid U-Bass.

The Bushman Contest has finally officially kicked off. But if you’re thinking of entering do be aware that last year’s winners haven’t received their prizes yet. Lorenzo (aka Ukulollo has been in touch with me about it and I’ve had this comment.

Kate Miccuci has appeared on Raising Hope as – if you can believe it – a cute, quirky ukulele girl: clip 1, clip 2 and clip 3.

Please let this be the end of ukuleles in adverts.

On Uker Tabs: My Heart Will Go On and Shambala.

It’s amazing how much stuff is going on in London. Mighty Ukulele has a full list of London ukulele events if you’re in the area.

Pictures: Ukulele.fr have come up trumps with this post and this post. Also: Christopher Guest, Tron with a Ukulele, Ukuwaile

Yes, finally the waiting and site-checking everyday if not perhaps something new might have been posted, despite holdays, is over.
Nice to have you back ;)
I like kate miccuci as cute quirky ukulele girl ^^
    and the ad is…. well…

Thank heaven you’re back at it, Al, I was suffering badly from Uke Hunt withdrawal. Everywhere I went, all I could do was shout “Uke Hunt! Uke Hunt! Uke Hunt!” For some reason, this seemed to attract people to me. Most of them were policemen and the rest were psychiatric staff. They all kept inviting me to come visit them at work, even insisting that I stay with them for days on end. I was grateful for their hospitality, it helped take my mind off Uke Hunt’s hiatus.

Kate Micucci – lost me at ‘poopies’!

I’d seen a mention on YouTube recently that the Felukuleles hadn’t received their prizes for winning the 2009 contest and it seems they still haven’t. My fervant wish is that we see an end to “…and this is my entry in the [ ] Bushman Ukulele Contest.” Enough, already.

Kate is in danger of typecasting herself, but perhaps this limited role is all she’s really good for and she should milk it for all it’s worth while she can. Her other claim to fame, of course, is her vocabulary. In that vein, a non-uke video for fans –

Frank Delima is a comedy institution in Hawaii, Al. What you decry is precisely what has made him popular over there. And I wish I’d found that ad before you did, I’m jealous.

My favorite new uke from NAMM is the Mahalo yellow smiley face with two soundholes for eyes.
    Instant classic…

Julia: Did you miss where I said I’d be back on the 21st? I should probably have made a full post like I usually do.

Acilius: It’s good to be back. I missed putting together the stuff.

Ambient: Because of the concept or because she didn’t call it ‘shit’?

Ron: Popularity doesn’t make something a good idea.

I dunno, just crossed the line from cute to cutesy wootsy. ;o)

poor customer service seems to follow bushman around like a bad smell…

Didn´t miss…I am just a bit addicted to this site ;)

Oh no! Is the Bushman Contest completely worthless?! I just don’t mean the, uh, different levels of players it attracts. Is the contest a complete sham in terms of the “prizes”?

I was going to film a little uke entry this month, but I don’t want to waste my friend’s time (or mine) if Bushman is really that shitty of a company. Seems this Bushman contest is too good to be true…and all I wanted was a chance to win a better ukulele [raises angry fist to the sky].

J-Hob: Certainly does. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard anything positive about Bushman.

    Julia: Glad to hear it!

mia: I don’t think entering is worthless. But I don’t think you should enter because of the prize. Enter for the extra exposure or just the fun of doing it.

Woodshed: excellent advice. I’ll do it for the love and fun and not for the possible uke prizes.
