Mark ‘Fingerstyle Solos for ‘Ukulele Nelson has a new book of slack key uke arrangements out: The Uke Buke: Learn to Play Slack Key Style `Ukulele. You can buy it in paper form on Amazon or, in pdf form, on his website.

This week’s most exciting news: Garfunkel and Oates have been signed up for a Conchords-style show by HBO.

James Hill is putting together a new album and is taking pre-orders for various levels of goodies.

Eddie Vedder is planning to release a “batch” of ukulele songs.

I’m never sure if I’m allowed to mention Buke and Gass (since the baritione uke has been modified into a guitar) but they’re one of my favourite bands and the moment and this session on NPR is too good not to mention.

Some quick videos: Ralph Shaw makes a very brief appearance in The A-Team. 2001: A Ukulele Odyssey (Via Got a Ukulele). A handy place to write your ukulele chords.

And a long video: Skynt The Musical: A musical with songs in Cornish including a uke song at the 10 minute mark (Thanks to Jack).

Why can’t all ukulele lessons be like this?

I have Nelson’s first finger picking book and it is really great. Heads up that you will need a low G string for this new slack key book.

are those u-900 pedals for sale somewhere? i’ve wondered about effect pedals for the ukulele.

Thanks for putting up the Buke and Gass session – really interesting stuff.

As someone who’s had that edition of Tiny Desk Concerts on their iPod for a couple of months now, I’m all for you mentioning Buke and Gass as often as you wish!

    I told Gary
that the attitude coming from the G&O photo knocked me off my chair. It has to be a joke, no ukers could pose like that without producing gales of laughter. And these two, expecially tiny Kate, would be well advised to lose all pretense to attitude, period.
A new name for the group wouldn’t hurt, either.

Well, Jeff says that Ralph makes an appearance in that video, too, Al, but I keep blinking and missing it. You’re not both in on some kind of joke together now are you?

Hey, if Betty Lou says that F7 is the “crazy chord,”
as I told Jeff, that’s good enough for me. From now on F7 is the Crazy Chord.

The most important news from NAMM as far as I’m concerned comes courtesy of Ukulele Bartt’s tour-of video, and that important news is –
    AH-qui-la. Repeat, AH-qui-la.

Thanks for the Skynt mention, a lovely thing to find on a Saturday morning.

    Best wishes

Buke and gass was certainly interesting, great stuff.
Has she just taken a bari body and customised to take six strings then?

pepamahima: Yeah, two of the three sections are intended for low-G. But I’ve been picking out a few of them on high-g and most work well. I might do a full write up once I’ve had chance to go through it properly.

chris: I had the same reaction so I asked the Mr. U900 and, no, they’re not.

    Paul: Glad you liked it.

PaulC: Couple of months? I didn’t realise the YouTube channel was that far behind. I’ll have to subscribe to the podcast instead.

Ron: Yes, I think we can safely assume it’s a joke. If you don’t like the stance, I’d avoid their next video.

I think the choice of song might have something to do with the briefness.

Jack33: I really enjoyed Skynt. Freedom for Cornwall!

Foinnse: I think he’s the luthier of the group but yeah.

Baz: Thanks for finding the video.

    Marcelo: Ha ha ha!
