Friday Links

Bossarocker is booking acts for the Uke Hunt podcast live sessions. So if you can make it to Manchester get in touch with her.

New records from Garfunkel and Oates and Spring Breakup (Mathias Kom on ukulele duties). The opening track, The Effect I Have On Women, is brilliant and a must for anyone missing Magnetic Fields’ ukulele days.

I added this to last week’s news late so in case you missed it, Eddie Vedder is planning an all uke record.

On Uker Tabs: Tears in Heaven by Claudio. You can find more of his arrangements here as well as a round up of ukulele Android apps and an excellent avatar.

Tiny ukulele.

Can the Green Bay Packers spell ukulele? (at 1 minute 20) Whoever wrote the article was struggling.

More to add to the ukulele-at-the-movies list: The Living Wake and A Thousand Clowns.

If I’d had known I’d feature on Friday links I would have combed my hair and uploaded my drunked blues song I wrote and played earlier for my friend.

Pish tosh, Al, you might as well say that Uni is struggling to spell it. Judging by her recent Gawd Awful video, Sexy Problems, I’d say she’s definitely struggling.

Perhaps the article writer is a Formby fan. Knowing your own feelings for George of the Banjo Ukulele, here’s a video you may not have seen, and other Formby haters are urged to keep away for fear of their mental health. This is a little three minute gem taken from the 1990 George Formby Convention and shown on BBC Four. This is like peering into the forbidden chamber of a secret society. And this is where uke bloggers who die unrepentant of their sins spend eternity, so make peace with your maker, Al (you too, Jeff),
    before it’s too late…

zym: I thought that might catch your attention.

    Jimmy: I bet the could.

Claudio: You should always be looking sharp.

Ron: I’ve nothing against Formby. I quite like him. I’m just not so keen on the people who recreate his stuff note-for-note.

swervy jervy: I would have supported that.
