Christmas Time Is Here (Tab)

Vince Guaraldi Trio – Christmas Time Is Here (Tab)

Tis the season to be jazzy. And I’ve thrown some decidedly jazzy bits into this tune from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I’ve added an intro with a few licks (using the E minor pentatonic scale) and some discordant chords. It’s played very loosely so feel free to change whatever you like or – even better – come up with your own.

Other than some unfamiliar chords, the tune isn’t too challenging. The right hand is all done with the thumb (except for the last chord).

This was just the thing for me tonight. So pretty and laid back. Love the reverse direction strum at the end. Thanks Al, and Merry Christmas.

Thanks Al, Merry Christmas to you,,

A note to davidx on the Flea, among the many ukes I own I still like my Flea the best. Easy to play, sounds pretty good. I would suggest the rosewood fret
    board,,

pepamahina: Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too.

davidx: Thanks! I haven’t had a Flea. But I do have a Fluke. I’m not so keen on it though. I wouldn’t buy one again.

I agree with Art, get a rosewood fretboard. I hate the plastic neck on my Fluke.

Art: And a Merry Christmas to you too!

This really sounds great. I’ve been trying to come up with those two chords (“Xmas time” and “is here”) just by playing around, without success. This really nails it. The intro on the Guaraldi piano version has just two chords (each with about 8 notes) in it. Could you suggest the best way to play those?

I thought I’d lost this song tab forever. This brings back memories for me performing this at my annual Christmas concert. I love this song so much. I remember Gerald Ross playing this song with a lot of tenderness. So much great music from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Dave: Glad you found it again!
