Kala Resonator: Ukulele Window Shopping

Kala are doing a limited edition run of resonator ukuleles.

Electric Tombo Ukelet from Japan

This 40s Gretsch is nice but the case is fantastic.

I’m not too keen on banjoleles, but I do quite like the idea of a ukulele-sized piccolo banjo.

It’s a very nice piccolo banjo and that girl should keep it. She rocks

Just purchased one and it’s really nice looking, but, tuning was a problem. I moved the biscuit as far as I could away from the nut but was still sharp when I checked the octave on each string. Kala is very accommodating and I have returned it directly to them and they think they can repair it. These instruments are out of stock so they just can’t replace it….Waah, it really sounded pretty good at the lower end and wanted to play it!

Notselrach: Thanks for that. Sorry to hear about the problems. Hope you get it sorted out.

I got interested when i heard about a resonator from Kala but then i found this : http://www.coule.fr/?p=6874

Its a 2010 review of a Republic Resonator, and it looks like its exactly the same model. Is the “new” Kala Resonator simply a rebrand ?

    Sconnar: Hmmm, that’s interesting.

Man, I would love to purchase one of those Kala resonators, but they logo at the headstock is so garish. As a busker, an affordable res uke would be a dream!
