The xx – Crystalised (Intro Tab)

I wasn’t as impressed with The xx’s debut album as most of the internet seems to have been, but there was enough interesting stuff on it to make me eager to hear the follow up that’s arriving in September. The most interesting being Crystalised with it’s interlocking guitar lines.

I’ve wangled the intro onto ukulele in few ways: with two ukes, with one, and a simpler version with one. The rest of the song is just Em – Bm – A. There’s also this guitar line in the chorus and the uke 1 part in bars 9 – 12 crops up later in the song.

Wow, sometimes your timing is just spooky. I just spent most of this evening putting together a playbook of music for multiple ukes for the ukulele quartet group that I play with. This will make a lovely addition, thank you Al.

So would you pick the notes for this one rather than strum?
Thanks, I love this song x

    Hello there!
First I just want to say thank you for this amazing website. It has really inspired me and helped me to develop as a ukulele player. Picking up an instrument as an adult is never easy, so i really appreciate this website for making me feel like anything is possible! Okay now that you know I’m obsessed with this website, I was wondering if you could do a more slowed down version of this song, because I keep watching it and i’m trying to study your hand movements around the 8th-9th measure, but it’s hard because you move pretty quickly! If not, I completely understand, but any pointers would be appreciated :D

Dayna: Thanks very much! Sorry, I don’t think I’ll get around to making that video.

    Hey,

I’m having a hard time with the chunk in the strumming pattern, could you clarify how you do it?
Thanks for this amazing tab by the way :)

Marcel: I’m bringing the side of my hand down on the strings at the same time as strumming. There’s a close up of it here.
