Bob’s Burgers Theme (Tab)

Loren Bouchard – Bob’s Burgers (Tab)

I’ve been without a TV for a long time. It’s only now that Netflix has come to the UK that I’ve been catching up on things. One show that passed me by until recently was Bob’s Burgers. Turns out it’s packed with ukulele music (by the man behind the show Loren Bouchard) and stars America’s ukulele sweetheart. So here’s a belated tab of the show’s theme.

The whole thing is strummed. I’ve indicated the strumming pattern in the first bar and you can use that pattern all the way through.

I tacked one of the little interludes that crops up in the show at the end.

Whaaaa, that strumming pattern is killing me so much I hit myself in the eye with my pinky. Practise, practise. I’d never heard of Bob’s Burgers but I love this theme. The cleavage between a lot of bald grumpy heads in the youtube-mosaic after the video has ended is a nice ittle bonus.

oh yes! excellent show, excellent theme song and a tab i’ve long been searching for,
Thanks very much woodshed also check out ‘Archer’ if you like bobs burgers it’s voiced by the guy who does bob and it’s even better and i expect it’s something that will really fit with your sense of humour.

I love Bob’s Burgers and its theme tune and appreciate this tab and even ukuhippo the mosaic of bald head cleavage. That would be a treat! Instead I got a freeze frame from the video for You Spin Me Right Round.

Carrie: I’m sorry you didn’t get any head cleavage!

Is the tab different from what you’re playing? Because I’ve listened to your video several times now, and I could swear you switch to a D (from a D6) on your third strum and not the fourth, as the tab suggests.

    You play: Down(D6) Up(D6) Down(D)

    Tab says: Down(D6) Up(D6) Down(D6) Up(D)

Karthik: Are you referring to the first part of the bar? Some times I’m missing out the up strum. So it’s:

    Tab says: Down(D6) – Down(D6) Up(D)

I’m with ukuhippo (hilarious comment). ‘Cept I’m not getting it at all. It sounds great in my head until I pick up my ukulele. Did notice you often skip the second upstrum in first bar. I like it that way. Impressive strumming.

Is the uke tuned a certain way for this song? Can’t seem to produce the same sound! Amazing job by the way!

  20. Woodshed March 17th, 2014 7:08 am

Hoberfinkle: No, it’s just standard tuning.

Having trouble getting it to sound right. I can’t get the rhythm or something. I’ve got the right strumming and chords down, but I just can’t get it to sound like the video and the show, any ideas?

  22. tooney April 12th, 2014 12:49 pm

Thank you, Stormageddon. Glad to know it’s not just me.

  23. Woodshed April 12th, 2014 2:00 pm

Stormageddon and tooney: Sorry, I’m not sure what the problem would be. I’m not doing anything special.

  24. tooney April 12th, 2014 10:03 pm

Al: I can’t speak for Stormageddon, but I know in my case that I’m the problem! :)

Heads up: On the eighth episode of the podcast Song Exploder (search “Song Exploder Maximum Fun” on Google or iTunes), the composer of this song goes over the process of writing and recording it, including some uke talk.

  26. Woodshed April 22nd, 2014 10:45 am

tjvonp: Thanks! I heard that. Interesting stuff.
