Best Ukulele Videos of 2014 So Far

Full Playlist

It’s looking like another golden year for ukulele music. Worryingly, more than half the year has already gone. So time for retrospective of the best ukulele videos of the year so far. Based on ratings on UkeToob, reaction on the blog and my personal tingles.

I’ll warn you now, it is 21 videos long. So if you find that woefully short there’s more ukulele music in the Ukulele 2014 Spotify playlist.

If there’s a video I’ve cruelly overlooked let me know in the comments.

What a great selection! Thanks so much, Woodshed. Particularly liked Anne Janelle, Noam Sadan and Gracie Terzian, (she plays the harp uke so well.)

One of my favourites is Anne and James playing a Michael Jackson song, (see:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZlnUbfyV2c) I’ve watched some videos of Anne with her electric cello playing along with James. This couple continue to develop so well. They are a delight.

Urbanmeister: Glad you enjoyed it. They’re a great duo.

Paul: I did put that on UkeToob. It wasn’t that well received, I’m afraid.

    Hi Al,
Firstly, thanks for putting ‘Fight Song’ on UkeToob; appreciated :)
Second, sorry to read it wasn’t that well received. Is that ‘cos of the score (3.8/5) or the number of votes received (just 10)?

    Woodshed,
Love the Del Rey stuff, we fortunately have her coming to do a workshop in St Albans in October. Can’t wait.
Jin De’ville does a 3 question interview with her where at the end she plays a 1903 ragtime song, the verse of which we know from much later, Mississippi John Hurt recorded the verse in 1960/61 as My Creole Belle.

Paul: When I was going through UkeToob looking at the scores I was looking for stuff with 10 or more votes and well into the 4s.

Sorry if my last comment seemed a bit dick-ish.

Howard: Hope you have a blast at the workshop.
