Hanging Tree (Hunger Games) (Instrumental Tab)

After last week’s two nightmare difficulty posts something much more straight forward this week.

Like the original, I start my version off with just the melody. It’s a great traditionally inspired melody (written by the guys off of The Lumineers) and is plenty strong enough to hold your attention alone. I’m just picking this with my thumb but you can use fingers if you’re comfortable with that.

Then from bar 17 I introduce a few chords but still keep it very minimal. Again, I’m just using my thumb to play these. Strumming down the strings whenever there’s more than one note.

    Sounds lovely! They’ve been playing this song to death on the radio here so I was about to skip this tab, but it sounds so nice on the ukulele I think I’ll have to download it anyway :)

    I love this. I’ve only been playing the uke since xmas having never picked up any other instrument in my life! managed to learn the 1st part, might take a little longer to get the cord part

    Hey, Wood. Really nice, thanks! I’d like to see more straight forward pieces like this one. I’m sure there are many others out there that appreciate a little less complexity yet sounds great.

    I haven’t looked through all of your stuff, but I was wondering if you would please consider working on a basic tab for the Taliesin Orchestra & Jessie Daniels version of Rue’s Lullaby (Deep in the Meadow), if you have the time, and if the tune inspires you to do so.

    Lovely song! You have been a great inspiration to me who’s a somewhat newbie uke player.
    Do you also have the tab for elvis’ can’t help falling in love? Have always loved that song.
