Flea Banjolele: Ukulele Window Shopping

A couple more interesting videos from NAMM 2011. Epiphone are bringing out an official Les Paul ukulele but that guy is so annoying I’m already striking it from my want-list. Much more likeable are the Beloffs with their Flea banjo-uke and (from around 4:25) the solid-body electric Fluke.

I’d still take my custom semi-hollow mini les paul tenor over that one any day of the week.

I’ve since put a custom pickguard and black pins. But boy howdy does it sound lovely through my tube amp.

Today’s photos of people with ukuleles are
going to be considered antiques someday, too.
People should realize that when they look at these nice old photographs or pose for their own photos. In the future the Jetsons will smile and shake their heads at those quaint late 20th – early 21st century ukers.

Pay all youse guys want, Al, no Les Paul is as cool as the Mahalo version. And especially ain’t no
tele remotely as cool as the Mahalo – especially when amped. My favorite new uke out of NAMM
is the Mahalo yellow smiley-face with two soundholes doubling as eyes. Now there’s a company that takes art design seriously. Instant classic…

I’m loving the idea of a cheap, good sounding banjolele.

    Tess: Glad you’re enjoying yours.

Hobbit: Thanks for that. Fixed it.

Ron: Do people take photos anymore? I mean ones that you actually hold rather than put up on Facebook.

I like my Mahalo Les Paul, but I’m still lusting after one of RISA’s.

SamD: It’s not obvious? The knob in the white coat.

zac987: At the price they’re talking, it’s not all that cheap by uke standards.

    George: No need to apologise!

todd: I won’t lie. That’s doesn’t surprise me at all.

I love the look of that Flea Banjolele. Pleasingly minimalist!

Ambient: Thanks for the link. I think if I ever got a banjouke it’d be at the simpler end of the scale.

Oh my days! I’ve tried various banjo ukes and found them too heavy, too expensive, too twisted (second hand) or too tinny, but I want a Flea.

Well, that’s taken all the fun out of deciding which uke to buy this year!

I have been looking for bangoleles for Christmas gifts for two of our children. I decided on the Gold Tone brand. I found several websites, including Amazon. The place I found, ZEN UKES, had the best price, included a free case and also FREE setup! They, David Utto, Jr. actually, talked to me at great lengths to make sure that I had whatever I needed as far as service was concerned, even helped with the fact that one of my two children needed a left-handed instrument. They offered a wonderful FREE setup which was GREAT. Fast shipping and returns within 7 days. At this point I think that they will be a great company to deal with. I plan to update soon after Christmas. I feel very confident dealing with this company.
