Adele – Rolling in the Deep (Instrumental)(Tab)

Adele – Rolling in the Deep

Adele might be handing my ass to me in the Musical Instruction books chart, but I’m not going to hold it against her. This is too good a song not to do an instrumental version of.

The tab doesn’t include every strum I do, so tackle it in the way that feels best to you – if you’ve got a complaint about that read Christine’s comment.

The trickiest bit comes in bars 12/13. Here I’m doing a fake strum because there isn’t time to do a real strum and get back to play the rest of the bar.

Here’s a slightly simpler way of playing it:

You make it look too easy

This *and* Winehouse? You’re tickling my kickass-Brit-soul-jam fancy with alla that.

  4. Woodshed September 2nd, 2011 11:14 am

    thegentlesurprise: Thanks very much!

Hanivaz: You’re obviously not looking at the facial gurninngs that are going on!

Miss Jess: Always a pleasure to tickle your fancy.

So beautiful! So jealous………well, not really; just really impressed :-)

Well done – beautiful girl, beautiful voice and great playing. You made the song yours :-)

  6. Polly September 2nd, 2011 1:32 pm

I can play it! Very slowly and squinting at the tabs but it’s beginning to emerge!

Thank you SO much; I’ve had an ukulele only since 1st July (actually now I’ve got TWO :-)) but I’ve played lots of other instruments for many years.

Your tabs have taught me to read tabs; something I never could do especially with the 5 string banjo; too confusing :-)

May I ask which town you come from in England? I come from Bristol originally but have been in Australia for 26 years.

Thank you again! Every day now I wake up and think ” what’s on Uke Hunt today?” and it’s a good day :-)

Polly” Thanks very much for the kind words! Slow is the way to go. Once you can play it slow it’s just a matter of time. I was born in Sheffield. Currently living in Derby.

You’re top of that list now? YOU ARE BEATING ADELE!

  9. Woodshed September 10th, 2011 9:04 pm

Josh: Thanks. Yeah, I’ve been bouncing around in the top three. Don’t think it’s Adele’s top priority though.

  10. Tej September 11th, 2011 6:10 pm

Which Uke is that ? Price ?

  11. Woodshed September 12th, 2011 11:29 am

Tej: KoAloha Sceptre tenor. About $1,000 if you can find one.

  12. taylor September 24th, 2011 12:44 am

how do you like the sceptre style uke? i’m thinking about getting one but i’m not sure how the shape might affect the sound

  13. taylor September 24th, 2011 12:45 am

i mean it sounds great in your videos but how would it compare to just a regular body shape?

  14. Woodshed September 27th, 2011 8:01 pm

taylor: I really like it. I don’t think the shape has much influence on the sound. I think the fact it’s very thin might, though.

Hi a couple of questions, when reading sheet music the what does the little curvy line that goes above and between two notes mean? I’ve been playing them like a hammer on/off.

Also, the ‘xx’ in the first bar, I presume these are meant to make a chunking noise? How do you play these without chunking on all the strings?

    Thanks :)

  16. Woodshed October 2nd, 2011 1:51 pm

Hugo: It is a hammer-on or pull-off when there’s a different fret number linked to. Otherwise it’s a tie (the lengths of the notes are added together).

I just play a mute on those strings, but you could do a full chnk and it would be just the same.

  17. harriet October 17th, 2011 4:13 pm

could you please put up an audio of the simplified version because I know the notes but when I put them together I can’t really get the rhythm.

  18. Polly October 21st, 2011 2:05 pm

This is so difficult! I’ve just about got the first part. It’s all the extra strumming and then it doesn’t sound the same. My brain hurts. But I shall practice a lot and then shall win. ^.^

  19. Dianna November 2nd, 2011 11:17 am

Thanks so much for this and all the other tabs and chords you post on your site. I’ve learned so much from you and I’m very grateful! I didn’t even strum when I started becoming a regular on Uke Hunt. I will also practice a lot and win :)
    Dianna

  20. Woodshed November 3rd, 2011 11:24 am

Dianna: Thanks! Good luck with the practicing.

  21. Olive November 10th, 2011 2:56 am

Wow. This is really just…Wow. You have played some fantastic pieces before! But I think this is my favorite. Writing this I become curious: What’s YOUR favorite Ukulele song? On UkeHunt or otherwise.
If it’s a weird question or is actually pretty disconcerting I totally understand, though!
In any case, thank you for posting. I cannot stop playing it. I just recently got my Ukulele back (a dear friend requested borrowing it, and really I could not refuse!) so I’m a little rusty. But this is the perfect thing to get me back up to speed. Thank you!
P.S. It turns out I gave you a bad piece of information in regards to one of my prior comments. “Jingle Bell Rock” is totally on the list of “Christmas” songs. My apologies!

  22. Woodshed November 10th, 2011 7:07 am

Olive: That’s a tough question! It changes every five minutes. At the moment, Smile by The Gothic Archies.

  23. ukegirl January 5th, 2012 3:10 am

omg how the heck did u do it. when u were playing it, i can see in your face the u were really enjoying it and i want to be the same as u when i play it. i am not going to learn how to play it coz i am only a begginer. but all i want to say is U ROCK MAN!!!!!!

  24. Woodshed January 6th, 2012 8:50 am

ukegirl: Thanks! I think you’re the first person whose managed to recognise that I’m actually enjoying playing!

  25. Linho February 5th, 2013 9:28 am

    Hi Woodshed,

great! Without knowing it I arranged a quite similar version on my harp ukulele, just saw your arrangement as related video. I think the notes are mostly the same (logically), but I especially love your strumming parts!

I suggest you try to play your arrangement on your harp ukulele, it’s really fun with the thumb rolling the eighth notes. And I bet you do it way better than me. :-)
Also, I would love to see more harp ukulele videos from you, your Here Comes The Sun was georgeous!

    Cheers,
    Linho

  26. Woodshed February 6th, 2013 7:54 am

Linho: Excellent! Sounds really good on the harp uke.

  27. TheLaughingMelon March 2nd, 2013 5:06 pm

    Great job!

  28. Woodshed March 3rd, 2013 1:43 pm

    TheLaughingMelon: Thanks!

  29. watchdawn March 8th, 2013 8:15 am

This is very good. I tried to practice this but I keep getting lost. This is really hard. your work is AMAZING!

  30. Woodshed March 8th, 2013 9:03 am

watchdawn: Thanks! Yeah, it’s a tricky one. I hope the practicing goes well.

  31. Kirill January 18th, 2017 6:38 am

Greetings from cold Russia! Why do not you lay out gtp tabs in format?

  32. Woodshed January 18th, 2017 8:55 am

Kirill: Greetings Russia! Because very few people would be able to open it. And everyone can open PDFs.

  33. Kirill January 19th, 2017 9:17 pm

Maybe you can post the file to your guitar pro files on the Internet in the form of a zip file? It would be much more comfortable. Or send files via e-mail, I promise you will not upload to the Internet :)
