Ukulele Window Shopping

After being on the wagon for a while, I’ve given in to UAS this week and got myself a Christmas present. 10 internets to anyone who guess what I’ve bought.

Mr Kazookeylele is selling a genuine Kazookeylele.

aNueNue are continuing with their signature ukes with an electric ukulele styled after, Canadian uke rockers, Lucky Uke.

Six foot five Tangi ukulele.

Two cases of multi-instrument attribution: one described in it’s title as tiple, cuatro, ukulele and mandolin, and on that looks like a hybrid of electric guitar, mandolin and ukulele.

Heindel ‘Black Beauty’ soprano: gorgeous back, not so sure about the front (via Phredd).

Boy, this is tough. I know it’s not the aNeuNue Lucky Uke. I’m going to go with Mya-Moe!

Do I get multiple guesses if I’m wrong?

    A kazookeylele?

  3. Ron Hale November 25th, 2011 10:34 pm

If this were a money bet, Al, I’d go with Mya-Moe. Not too long ago I told Jeff I was getting tired of seeing them every time I turned around.

Victoria Vox played one of the KoAloha super ukes until Gordon and Char invited her over and put her through some Clockwork Orange behavioral modification sessions. Let me guess: they did the same to you. Strapped you in. The works.

Tell us you don’t have the headstock design tatooed on your forehead. You see more of that than you do dolphin bridges.

    Now, for some happier possilities.

A red Hilo with a playing card on the top. Good choice. Time to make a video with AFP. Perhaps the first in a series of YouTube duets. Do one with Armelle.

And like it or not, it’s time to play some shows, some festivals, and maybe go on tour. Come to the states. But no Mya-Moes in my town, please. We confiscate them at the county line.

You’ve taken a quantum leap to the uber-coolest uke in ukedom. (No, not a LeDomino.) About time you picked up a pink V. Pride of Mahalo. Bet you’re chuffed as hell. Man’s gotta play what a man’s gotta play. Rockin’ duet with Elvira Bira coming right up.

You’ve stolen the uke apple of my very own eye:
a yellow Mahalo Smiley Face. Uke fink. Perfect for those KarUke sessions with Rufus and the gang.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. A Firefly banjo uke. And you’ve gone all Formby on us. With your little stick of Blackpool rock, along the promenade you stroll. It may be sticky, but you never complain, it’s nice to have a nibble at it now and again.

Hello Kitty? SpongeBob? Not one of those Mainland Chili Pepper ukes? Ooh, one of their pink Gecko ukes. Has to be. You are one lucky son of Britain. Check out the new video of Tiny Tim at
the Isle of Wight: There’ll always be an England, while there’s a country lane.

Never heard of Lucky Uke. And they get their own model?

    A black Le Domino

  5. Woodshed November 26th, 2011 11:45 am

Phredd and Ron: No, not a Mya-Moe. I’m not famous enough to play one of those.

j-hob: Nope, missed out on that one.

    Rob: Good guess, but no.

    Something semi-hollow and electric?

  7. Phredd November 27th, 2011 11:33 am

Alright, I have another guess – that cool Tomo Electric you and I were talking about awhile back.

I know! You’ve ordered a custom built uke from a luthier based on a flying V mahalo and bugsgear eleuke?!

  9. Rebekah November 27th, 2011 2:42 pm

Oh wow, those aNueNue ukes are so cool.

  10. Ambient Doughnut November 28th, 2011 11:00 am

    aNueNue Harp Ukulele?

  11. Claudio November 28th, 2011 4:48 pm

Hmmm? I don’t think it is a custom built uke.
I think you might have gone for something classic and possibly not new.

    Random guesses:

Guess 1: Something that’s not a traditional uke shape like a fluke or baroque shape.

    Guess 2: Fender Tenor

    Guess 3: Martin Soprano

Guess 4: You’ve realised how great Formby is an you bought a soprano banjolele.

  12. Woodshed November 28th, 2011 5:53 pm

We have a winner! Ten internets to Ambient Doughnut. Don’t eat them all at once.

Phredd: I do quite fancy one of those Tomos.

J-Hob: I’m saving that for my diamond wedding anniversary.

Rebekah: They do come up with a lot of cool stuff.

Claudio: You’re right to reject a custom uke. I still don’t feel I know enough to make it worthwhile.

  13. Phredd November 29th, 2011 10:43 am

NICE! looking forward to hearing you play it!

  14. Ambient Doughnut December 1st, 2011 10:01 am

    /buffs knuckles

They do look rather wonderful – looking forward to the demos!

Phredd and Ambient: I’m working on a version of Albatross that should be up before too long.
