aNueNue Harp Uke: Ukulele Window Shopping

I’ve got my hands on a new ukulele! It’s an aNueNue harp ukulele. I’m still getting to grips with it but I’ve done a couple of videos with it: Here Comes the Sun and Albatross. I’ll be doing a review of it next year but you can read Tim’s thoughts right now.

Two sweet looking (and very expensive) DeVine ukuleles: DeVine 1 and DeVine 2.

Looks like the new uke gives your right hand a better work-out than non-harp ukes, Al. The thumb finally gets a chance to break loose from the uke’s four-string straitjacket and stretch out some. Something all fingerpicking uke thumbs have been dying to do.

Still time to sign on to the Beatles Complete on Ukulele. Don’t know what songs are left, though.
Ukulele Ray just did “I Need You”.

Saw (the real) Fleetwood Mac do “Albatross”.
Wonder if Peter Green ever envisioned it on uke.
    Top marks…

Noice. I think Albatross works particularly well on it. It’s true what Tim said – just the uke strings on their own do have a lovely tone. Looking forwards to some more videos from the harpuke :)

    Thanks for the mention!

I love the droning strings on Albatross. Very nice cover, Al. I keep coming back to it.

I also look forward to your review next year, too.

Ron: The big challenge with the thumb is accuracy. I’m forever hitting the wrong bass string on it.

SamD: Thanks. I think it does work well on harp uke. It’s the first tune that came to mind when I started messing with it.

ukuleletim: Thank you for the inspiration. Your video has given me a lot of ideas I want to play around with.

Wow you got to grips with that quickly; just lovely playing, well done!

Ambient: I don’t feel like I’ve got to grips with it yet. I definitely need more practice.

I got one of these for my birthday and one of the bass strings snapped. Does anyone happen to know what kind of strings I need to get?

Owen: I think a standard low-G string would do the job. Although I’ve been tempted to experiment with classical guitar strings.
