TV Themes Quiz

The movie theme tune quiz was popular so here’s a TV theme tune version.

One problem: TV shows aren’t quite as international as films. So I’ve split them up into UK and US TV shows (sorry other 95% of the earth’s population). Tackle one, the other or both.

If you’re reading via email or RSS click through to the blog to hear the tunes.

Again, if you’re desperate for hints, they’re all tunes I’ve tabbed on the blog.

5/7 for UK shows (though one was a lucky guess) and 7/7 US shows.

I will only be satisfied when I know how my score compares to Uke of Carl’s.

2/7 UK, 4/7 US. Clearly I need to watch more television…

As I was watching Red Dwarf seconds before seeing this post, that one came as a delightful surprise!

Carrie: Well done! I wasn’t expecting any Americans to do that well on the UK ones.

PaulC: That’s quite a coincidence! I haven’t watched Red Dwarf for years.

Brilliant – very well arranged and played – a pleasure to listen to in its own right.

I’m almost embarrassed to admit I got all the US themes. Only one UK show (#2). But I couldn’t help noticing how much nicer the UK melodies were in general.

Love this! I got 7/7 of the UK ones!

US ones I only got only 2/7 – one I recognised yet misidentified as A-Team, oops. I haven’t seen most of those shows, being in the UK though – in both cases I’d probably recognise the original UK show theme, though!

Great stuff – really enjoyed that & have passed onto friends! Lovely thirty second timing, too.

Got 6/7 for the UK one & only 3/7 of the US ones (but had only seen that many – again, I’d have known the UK equivalents).

Hahaha got 2 for UK (Coronation Street and Sherlock) and 1 for US (Jeopardy). Shows how much I watch TV :P

I didn’t get a single UK on, but nailed all the U.S. but I don’t watch a lot of tv

From the other 95% of the world:

    UK: 1 (MOTD)
US: 2 The Office and Magnum PI

Anyone with moderate profiling skills can figure out I’m a male born before 1980.

    Tom C: Thanks very much!

    ryan: Hahaha!

    Christine. Glad you found them.

Mike: I think the niceness might be down to my selecting.

Tim: The A Team is a pretty good idea for an arrangement though.

Jeanette: Thanks very much for spreading the word!

Juliane: Glad to see you’re spending your time on more worthy pursuits!

    seamus4string: Well done!

ukuhippo: I think my selections probably show that I’m in the same bracket.

  15. Dan August 6th, 2012 12:45 pm

Why isn’t doctor who on this?

  16. Woodshed August 6th, 2012 4:46 pm

Dan: Because I haven’t included every theme tune in the world?

  17. Jessica August 9th, 2012 11:59 pm

Wow, most the the UK shows I neevr watch. (Though I’ve only even watched two of the UK ones, and as for the US…ugh, only got a couple. The 6th one DID fill me with girlish glee, however. Love that show!

  18. Jessica August 10th, 2012 12:01 am

Whoa, so I don’t proofread my comments, clearly. lol!

  19. Joseph August 10th, 2012 6:17 pm

i really enjoyed listening to all of these, but in particular:
    UK theme #4 and #5
    and US theme #2
but i have no idea what they are from and i would like to learn them without sifting through your extensive collection of themes… help?

  20. Joseph August 10th, 2012 6:51 pm

haha, my pinky is too wimpy for the Red Dwarf theme (and yes, i ended up just sifting through the themes)

  21. Woodshed August 12th, 2012 9:18 pm

Jessica: That’s okay, I don’t proofread my posts.

    Joseph: Glad you found them!

  22. snojimbo August 16th, 2012 7:02 am

Well, 6/7 for the UK tunes, but only 3 for the US. Obviously too busy practicing to watch tv…
