Herman Vandecauter – Aire (Tab)

Herman Vandecuater – Aire (MP3)

If you’ve been following along with the UkeTube you’ll be familiar with Herman Vandecauter’s consummate classical ukulele playing. He was kind enough to let me put up one of his handwritten tabs for Francois Duval’s Aire.

The piece is fairly straightforward but if you want to play it as well as Herman does you’ll need to work hard on getting the tone and feel of the piece right.

sanford: Totally agree. Wouldn’t like my own chicken scratch framing though.

    herman: I certainly enjoyed it!

I’m having fun with it! Any info/link on the composer? I couldn’t find any except a Belgian race car driver, and if he is also a composer I’d be quite impressed.

Alec: I couldn’t find much when I researching the post. The best I could do was the German Wikipedia.

Unknown composer for me as well / baroque area (+/-1700) / original for a wind instrument arranged by me! I remember I did find this air on the internet some years ago and kept it for it’s “eleganz”

Well, kinda forgotten but I’m sure he’d be happy people are still arranging and playing his stuff 400 years on.

I’d like to think it was the racecar driver anyway.

Many thanks to you & Mr. Vandecauter for this. Makes me feel very classy when I play it. A great segue to “Singing in the Bathtub.” :)

Seriously – really like this one very much. Thanks for the post.
