Slotted Headstock Ukuleles

No doubt due to the influence of Jake, there seem to be more and more, classical guitar style, slotted headstock ukuleles cropping up. As well as the high end stuff like this custom Mana’e tenor, more mid-range brands like Kala are turning out ukuleles like this and this.

Natural finish Polka-Lay-Lee.

If you’re asking five grand for a ukulele, you could give us more than one small photo and a two line description.

The perfect gift for a KoAloha fan: a KoAloha fan.

That pink thing on the teapot looks like an umbilical cord, maybe it’s from the lady sitting on top of the teapot.

Can’t imagine that a ukulele is the most comfortable place to give birth.

John: You just put me off tea for the rest of my life.

Lonna: I could afford the fan. The postage on the other hand…

    I got the Polka-Lay-Le!

I also got the dish and the teapot — teapot is butt ugly!

Thanks for assisting with my bad habits.

Josh: You bought the teapot? You must be out of your mind ;)

Well, yeah. And we know its destiny; every holiday season we do a White Elephant swap; last year I ended up with a salt and pepper shaker set of pigs copulating; this year, someone else will end up with a really ugly ukulele teapot.

Heya – polka-lay-le arrived. I’d no sense just how big the silly thing is! Anyone have any suggestions regarding replacing the (lost) bridge?

  10. Woodshed November 30th, 2008 10:19 am

Josh: I didn’t realise they were big either. Trust me, you don’t want my advice on luthiery.

josh try (as a temporary measure at least) a banjolele bridge, they’re all over ebay, easy enough to get

Hm, good thought. Wonder if the size would work? Worth a try, though my wife has promised to slay me if a banjolele so much as enters the house.
