Paolo Nutini – High Hopes (Chords)

Paolo Nutini – High Hopes (Chords)

Polo Nutini’s ukulele may have met an unfortunate end but this ukulele ditty (from the upcoming Sunny Side Up) turned out nice.

And it’s a dead simple song – perfect for beginners. It’s just baby’s first uke chords: C, F and G.

Suggested Strumming

Old faithful:

d – d u – u d u

Pre-Order Sunny Side Up

If you can’t wait until Monday to hear the studio version (also featuring the uke) you can stream the new album on MySpace (unless you’re in the US). Check out Pencil Full of Lead for more uke action.

Requested by Naomi (and I’m pretty sure Alice will be interested too)

Very catchy tune. Thanks for scratching this out. Is this picture actually of the singer? He sounds Jamaican. Perhaps he is – but the name is Italian? Jeff

Jeff: Yes, that’s him. He’s actually Scottish (of Italian descent I believe).

I was very interested.. I just opened it in my e-mail my first thought was “Oh what a hottie”
Yeah he’s Scottish, but his family (like four generations ago) are from Italy.. And I shouldn’t know that..
Wasn’t the album out today or something?

Alice: I think it’s out on Monday.

Paolo’s family is originally from Barga, a hill town in Northwestern Tuscany. They and he still visit. He played a show in Barga in 2007 and was there for a photo shoot this past spring. Search the wonderful barganews.com site for photos and stories, if interested.

I am about to order my first Uke after being part of several jam sessions where one or more of my friends owned a ukulele… two strums is all it took to fall in love and I never forgot. Finally getting my own and can’t wait to play this!

I got choked up listening to Paolo sing this song, and I like this live version better than the album version.

  13. Woodshed August 1st, 2012 10:42 pm

marty: I agree. I think he often sounds better live than he does on the records.

Very new to the uku. How do i know how many times to play the chord? (a full strum section?) – fx: How many times do i strum the C before changing to F? Is it just dduudu?

  17. Woodshed August 28th, 2013 8:44 am

Soren: There’s a guide to strumming here.

Hi! For some reason when I hit download on this one nothing comes up. Have the chords been removed?

  23. Woodshed July 27th, 2015 6:56 am

elizabeth: That’s strange. It’s working fine for me. Sorry about that.
