John Denver/Ballard C Boyd – Christmas for Cowboys

Ballard C Boyd – Christmas for Cowboys (Chords)

This is one of my all time faves – I think it’s hilarious and quite touching at the same time. And I think Ballard C Boyd‘s ukulele version (from his 2007 Christmas record Christmas with U) is even better than the original. So it’s that one that I worked from – but the original is pretty much the same.

Suggested Strumming

This one is in 3/4 time so do:

d – d u d –

For each chord.

That really is beautiful song – sends a chill down the spine, especially the 4th verse.

enjoyed it……i once asked a co-worker if he was ever into John Denver (he’s in his early/mid fifties…i figured he’d a been a young dude during denver’s heyday)

he paused and went into deep thought for a moment and said, ‘you kinda had to be a bit nerdy to be into John Denver.’

but after seeing Russ Buss’ version of Rocky Mountain high….don’t care much….i betcha lots of his tunes could make good uke crossovers :)

byjimini: I think Ballard wrote that verse.

todd: Never been a fan of him myself. I don’t even care much for his version of this song.
